— 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐓 𝐎𝐅 the week blew past with no incident, fortunately, and both Layla and Warren were able to just relax and coast through the motions of typical teen life.

Or at least, as typical as teen life could be when attending a school for teenagers with superpowers, anyway.

Friday ended up coming around pretty quickly, and before either of them knew it — they were in their last class of the day, which just so happened to be P.E., so Layla and Warren were already with each other.

And so was Jennifer.

The blonde had spent the entire class period talking to Warren, despite the fact that the conversation had been more one-sided than not, with the Peace boy barely even responding to her.

Layla could only sit there and listen to the blonde talk about anything and everything, sharing incredulous looks with Warren whenever Jennifer changed topics and started a whole new rant without any encouragement from either of them.

By the time the period was over and Jennifer had rushed to go change, Warren could only shoot Layla a look of relief as they began making their way to the locker rooms.

"Finally. I thought she was never gonna shut up." He muttered with a roll of his eyes, causing Layla to laugh.

"At least she won't have as much to talk about during the meeting today." She tried to comfort, her tone light.

Warren only scoffed in response. "Something tells me she'll still have a lot more to say." He shook his head, before looking back at her as they came to a stop in front of the girls' locker room.

"Speaking of the project, I have to head to the chemistry classroom to grab some materials for the project. You gonna come with?" He questioned.

Layla nodded immediately. "Yeah, I'll come. I can help you carry supplies back to the library." She smiled.

Warren shot her a mischievous smirk then. "Can your little arms handle it, Hippie?"

The Williams girl scoffed in response, as she lightly shoved his arm. "Don't test me, Hotshot. I'll wreck you." She said confidently.

Warren took a step closer to her then, smirk still on his face. "Oh, yeah?"

Layla nodded as she swallowed thickly. "Yeah." She whispered, her voice coming out much less confident in the wake of his proximity, as she craned her neck back in order to continue holding his eye contact as he moved closer.

Before the pyrokinetic could respond though, someone rushed past them — effectively breaking the moment.

Warren took a step back and smirked once more, giving Layla a once over, his eyes pausing to linger on her damn thigh highs for just a moment longer, before flitting away.
