Flashback: August 2021, New Timeline, Earth Prime

Barry sighed as he finished his 350'th lap around the Speed Lab. He and Iris had been separated for a while now, but they hadn't fought like that in front of everyone. They were on good terms for a couple of weeks and one would think that they would get together again. However, after today, the sliver of that chance dwindled even lower than before.

"Cupcake for your trouble?"

Barry turned around to find the source of the voice, and smiled when he saw his daughter. He would be lying if he said he didn't miss the previous Nora, but for whatever reason, he saw glimmers of her in this one. It was..nice. Knowing that his past was with him, in one way or another, helping build his future.

"What?" Nora asked with a shy smile. The way her father was looking at her made her feel..special. Like he was proud of her even though she didn't do anything.

Barry shook his head, "Nothing..I'm sorry that you had to come here cause of a problem..but I'm really glad you're here."

Nora smiled, whether he knew it or not, Barry just said the same words Kara once told Barry back when they first met. Nora always loved that story, and so hearing her father say those words..it almost wanted to blurt out who her mother was. Speaking of her mother, "Aunt Kara invited me to look at the DEO, same with Aunt Alex, I'll be back at grandpas later tonight though, so don't worry. Oh—and as for my problem..it's not really problem..it's just...an emotion." She smiled before zipping away.

Barry tilted his head, "an emotion huh?" He laughed to himself as he exited the empty room. He pulled out his phone to send Kara a text:

"Have her back home by 10 🫵🫵🫵"

After a couple seconds he got a response. His cheeks started to hurt from his large and wide smile, when he saw what Kara sent him:

"Sleepover, Got it. 🫡🫡🫡"

Kara wasn't any different after she sent that message: giggling to herself.

"How long has she been like that?" Nora asked Alex, "For about the past minute.. 2 minutes. How can she keep her cheeks in that position for that long..." Alex subconsciously rubbed her own cheeks as she looked at her sister, much to Nora's amusement.

Out of the corner of her eye, Alex assessed the girl. Nothing seemed off about her, which was odd. Ironically. Perhaps she was telling the truth..but they way she always looked around when she thought no one was looking..or the way she looked at Kara..it just didn't line up. Was Kara really an aunt like Nora said she was? Was she something else..something more? She turned her glance into a full head turn and adorned a smile, clearing her throat when she looked at Nora. When Nora turned to look at her aunt, Alex was already looking at Kara, who had shoved her phone in her pocket and was blushing madly, having been caught.

A couple hours later, West Household.

The West family, along with Barry were playing board games. No one other than Barry was worried about Iris, possibly due to her working for so long. He had called her a couple times during the day, but each of them weren't answered. He told himself she just needed time to process everything, and that was only proved when she texted him that. She called back an hour after that, sounding tired. Barry had asked about it, and she had admitted to just being stressed about their relationship, and she felt bad for snapping at him, they reconciled, she even gasped and sniffled or something on the call. That behavior was weird, and almost made Barry want to head over there, but Iris had assured him it was just her emotions and that if he did come over when she wasn't ready, it wouldn't help as much as it should. Barry conceded, but just as he was about to end the call, he had this, feeling that maybe she wasn't being honest. Despite her behavior and tired tone, she came off as minuscule bit dismissive. However, he didn't mind it too much, and just ended the call.

Over the next few days, despite Iris being much better around Nora, she seemed a little on edge around Barry. Not in anger, but just something else. That soon turned into a smile that was more exuberant than normal, but no one questioned it. Not even Barry.

However he wished he did question it. That he asked about it. It was in hindsight, something that really was blinding.
