Chapter 7

Y/N's Pov :

Tzuyu, Aera and James have been behaving like friends with the three of us these days.
Jisoo : "I wanna believe their change is genuine but I can't"
Jeonghan : "I don't care as long as they don't cause trouble"
Jisoo : "Hasn't seen Taemin in a while though"
Y/N : "Me neither"
Jeonghan : "I saw him at the cafeteria yesterday"

I was at work taking orders of the customers and talking-joking around with my coworkers in between.
Yunjin : "Where's Heeseung?"
Karina : "He took an early leave"
Jessi : "Everything's okay? You guys need anything?"
Y/N : "All good but a restock of tissues would be better"
Jessi : "Beautiful roses!"
"Heeseung got them for Y/N", Karina said while grinding fresh coffee beans.
Jessi : "Ah, I see"

We were laughing about something when a customer came through the front door.
I don't think I would ever be able to not recognise that tall silhouette.
I choked on my laugh and hid under the counter immediately.
Karina : "Hey, are you okay?"
Jessi : "What happened?"
The guy approached the counter and Yunjin greeted him.
"Hello, just a moment sir", Yunjin said to the guy and then looked at me as I'm in charge of taking orders. I signalled her to do it on my behalf.
Yunjin : "What can I get you?"
?? : "Two iced americanos, two muffins and melon breads for takeout"
Yunjin : "Sure sir. Here's the bill. Please take a seat and we'll get your orders"
On the other hand, Jessi and Karina were trying to get me up.
"Please let me stay here", I whispered.
Karina : "What?"
I whispered again since they couldn't hear me.
Jessi : "But why?"
"I, I, I...I think I'm having a heart attack", I tried to make an excuse.
Jessi : "WHAT?"
Karina : "WE NEED TO TAKE HER TO THE HOSPITAL"
Jessi : "CALL AN AMBULANCE"
Yunjin was about to make the call and 2-3 customers including that guy inquired if something's wrong.
"Relax loud women", I said while mentally smacking myself.
"Please just get that man his orders and let me stay here", I requested.
Karina and Yunjin hesitated a bit and then got back to work and let the customers know that everything's okay.

Jessi unnie sat beside me under the counter.
"Why do I have a feeling that you are hiding from that hunk?", she asked.
"Nooo", I sounded just like a liar.
"Look at me", she made me look at her and narrowed her eyes.
Jessi : "You're hiding from him"
Y/N : "I'm not"
Jessi : "It wasn't a question. Now, do you wanna tell me why?"
"There isn't...a strong reason. Maybe I just don't know how to talk to him anymore", I told her.
Jessi : "I see. Is he a friend?"
Y/N : "I wouldn't call him that"
Jessi : "A lover?"
Y/N : "No"
Jessi : "One night stand?"
"...and my best friend's brother", I added.
Jessi : "Is it bad?"
Y/N : "......."
Jessi : "I know I'm being intrusive but I want you to know that I'm here if you ever wanna talk about anything"
Y/N : "Thank you, unnie"
We shared a hug and then she craned her neck up to check if that guy was gone.
"He left", Jessi said and got up pulling me up with her.

The next day I went to the town's library to get a book and the first thing I noticed was the familiar broad back of a guy sitting on a chair.
I turned around and walked out of the library without thinking twice.

Two days later, I went to grab lunch with Soobin after my college. We were  on our way to leave after paying the bill, when my 'nightmare' entered the restaurant with Lisa holding his arm.
I felt a slight ache in my chest but again I have no valid reason to feel that way.
I hid behind Soobin since he has a much bigger frame than mine.
"Just walk straight out of here", I told him and we safely managed it outside.
Soobin : "Wasn't that Mingyu hyung?"
Y/N : "And?"
Soobin : "Rude"

I've been telling myself that I don't have to run away from him but everytime I see him, I can't help but run or hide away on impulses.
But it seems like it's just me hanging onto that night. He clearly isn't bothered about it and is spending his time with Lisa.
I've decided; I won't be running and hiding anymore.
