I stood in front of the door to mine and Jillian's apartment, trying to find the key in my bag. A smile adorned my face the whole way home. And, presumably, it was still there by the time I reached our door.

I hadn't even found the key when I heard Jillian open the door. I could tell she had been waiting up for me. It was obvious she wanted me to tell her about Ryan. I guess she would 'have' known, considering they were cousins.

I looked up from my bag. Jillian's expression startled me. A huge grin was spread on her face. She just knew.

"Tell. Me. EVERYTHING!" she squealed, grabbing my arm and dragging me into the living room.

She wasted absolutely no time in asking questions. "Did he ask you out? Are you dating? Did you guys kiss? Did you have a good night? Tell me, tell me, tell me!"

I sat on the small couch next to her. Jillian was sitting really close to me, hugging one of the pillows so tight I thought stuffing might burst from the seams. I told her pretty much everything, from the car ride to his apartment to saying goodbye. Some things I chose not to tell her. I didn't go into detail about nearly sleeping with Ryan. Besides, if I would have told her everything, I don't think she could have contained herself.

"Oh my GOSH this is PERFECT! It took him forever to finally do something. After a while, I didn't think he would even have the guts to ask you at all! Alyssa, I am so happy for you!"

All I could do was pretty much smile like an idiot. I was so happy, though. I don't think I could ever remember a time where I 'was' that happy. I was starting to get drowned in my thoughts when Jillian spoke again.

"So, what about telling them?"

"Huh?"

"The rest of the band! When are you telling them?"

"Well, I don't know. I was maybe going to keep it undercover for a while."

"You really think 'that'll happen?" she snorted.

"Well, why couldn't it?"

"You already told 'me'. You know that I'll blurt it out the second I see one of them."

We laughed. How could I ever think that our relationship could be kept a secret? I mean, we're together 24/7. We're practically family.

"Alright, I'll tell them tomorrow." I paused for a bit. "That is, if Ryan hasn't already told them."

"So," began Jillian again. "When are you two gonna actually go on a date?"

I'd never really thought how that part of the relationship would play out. We kind of went on a date before when we were still in the friend zone.

"Not sure. I think I'll just let things play out the way they're meant to."

****************

"You're joking, right? Come one, you have to be joking."

Brendon kept darting his eyes between Ryan and I. He was obviously shocked.

"So, you're telling me-" he grabbed Ryan's shoulders, "that this boy, right here; this foolish little freak right here grew a pair and asked you out?"

I couldn't help but laugh. Ryan couldn't even look at him with a straight face. He just kept laughing while Brendon shook his head and smirked devilishly.

"Ryan, you son of a bitch."

Ryan looked back up at him after he composed himself. Brendon continued.

"Proud of you man." Then he looked at me. "And YOU." He got really close. "You are welcome to beat him if he gets out of line."

"I'll make sure to do so," I laughed.

A dirty grin slid across his face. "If you know what I mean."

"Stop," laughed Ryan, blushing. He looked at me sheepishly. I felt so bad. It was still funny though.

Brendon backed away towards the door to their apartment. "Ryan we're leaving in 15. So, I'll leave you guys alone for a bit," he smirked yet again, wiggling his eyes eyebrows.

"Go away," warned Ryan, shoving Brendon out the door.

He poked his head through the door before shutting it. "Whatever you say..." his eyebrows wagged one last time.

Ryan shut the door, still blushing pretty badly. He rubbed the back of his neck and looked at the floor, not really knowing what to say. I stepped toward him and wrapped my arms around his thin waist. I gazed up at him.

"I'm so sorry for that," he whispered, his breath hitting my face.

"Hey, what do you expect? It's Brendon we're talking about," I smiled.

There was a pause. We both just gazed at each other. He pressed his hand agains my spine and pulled me up against his body. He leaned down and kissed me. It was soft and sweet. My insides went numb.

I felt his fingers brush my cheek, pushing back my hair. He backed up towards the couch, his lips tugging me with him. I grabbed his shirt and pulled him down with me. His lips made their way to my neck. He stopped, his breath a little more audible.

"I don't want to leave soon."

His body rested against mine as we lied on the couch. I heard a knocking at the door.

"Guess I have to, though."

We both sat up. His eyes were still fixed on mine. He kissed me again, this time harder. The collision of his kiss was what made it so hard to let him go, despite the fact that I would see him later today.

"Now go write a hit song," I said as I released.

Ryan smiled and kissed me one last time. He was out the door.
