It was now Sunday and Ryan asked if I could come to see his band. It was made up of him and his two friends, Spencer Smith and Brent Wilson. They were pitching in to pay for an apartment with a bunch of sound equipment packed into it. Ryan told me that Brent was bringing in a new singer to 'audition' today. I asked if Jillian could come with us. I knew she liked the kind of music they were writing.

We pulled up to an old apartment building a few miles from Jillian's house. It was about 10 a.m. I had been to this apartment many times to help Ryan bring in equipment. Spencer was the only one there when we arrived.

"Hey Spencer," we each took our turn saying.

Spencer went over to Ryan. "Hey Ryan, the new guy is coming with Brent."

"Okay cool. What's this guy's name again?"

"Brendon Urie I think."

We hadn't waited very long before Brent came with Brendon. When Brendon walked through the door I saw his eyes look all around the apartment and then stop on someone. His eyes were locked on Jillian. And she was staring right back.

"Hello everyone," said Brendon, still looking at Jillian.

"Hi Brendon," smiled Jillian.

Ryan started introducing everyone. "Brendon, you know Brent, that's Spencer, this is Alyssa, and that's Jillian my cousin."

Brendon glanced at me for a second. "Is she your girlfriend?"

Ryan and I looked at each other simultaneously. We both shook our heads and said "No," awkwardly at the same time.

Brendon looked at us a little suspiciously and just shrugged.

While the guys were discussing hearing him sing, me and Jillian took turns looking him up and down. He was quite attractive. He had shorter dark brown hair with short bangs. He had a skinny body like Ryan's, but he was shorter than Ryan. You couldn't help but stare at his face. His lips were plump and perfect and his eyes a deep brown. There was an excellent reason why Jillian liked him. And if he could sing, he would be hers.

Turns out he could sing. Beautifully. Jillian and I stared at him mesmerized while he sang a few songs. Ryan came over to us while the rest of the guys were discussing rental.

"What do you think of him?"

"Amazing," was Jillian's answer.

Ryan and I both laughed. "His voice is great. I think it would be horrible if you turned him down."

Ryan nodded his agreement. When he walked away I looked over to Jillian. "Looks like Brendon's got a number one fan."

"Shut the fuck up," she laughed. "They'll hear you."

"Well you know it's true," I said a little quieter.

"Ohhhh yes. How could you NOT find him attractive?"

"I know right?"

"Well hands off he's mine."

"Never said I wanted him. And I think he's got a thing for you too."

I looked over to see her smiling, her eyes still fixated on the new lead singer of the band.

The rest of the time we were there we just listened to music and tried to come up with a band name. There was one song that came on by Name Taken called "Panic". We all knew that song. We were all singing to it.

"Panic at the disco..." we all sang.

"Those lyrics are so weird," Brendon interrupted. "Like they don't even make sense."

"Yeah I like 'em though," Jillian agreed.

"I think they're just crazy enough that we have to use them," Ryan suggested.

"Wouldn't you want to add something so you're not just stealing their lyrics though?" I asked.

"Yeah, why not add like... an exclamation point or something?" added Brent.

I found a pen and paper on a music stand and wrote the title down. "You mean like this?"

I held up the paper. It read "Panic! At The Disco". Everyone's eyes were on it.

"I like it," Ryan approved. Everyone agreed. "Panic! At The Disco," he repeated.

I looked at Brendon and smiled. "Welcome to 'Panic! At The Disco' Brendon."
