Fill Me In Chapter 18 - Clumsy

You got me tripping oh

Stumbling oh

Slipping oh

Tumbling oh

Clumsy cause I'm falling in love

Austin and my dad walked back into the house completely soaked.

"Pia can you go get some towels for Austin. I'll grab a tshirt for you."

"I can just go across the street and grab some clothes." Right as Austin finished the sentence lightning struck.

"You're not going anywhere, Pia show him the bathroom so he can change clothes." My dad brought a shirt and sweatpants. "Pia will wash your clothes for you." And with that he left.

"Well the bathroom is upstairs, and it's the second door on the left." When I turned around Austin was taking his shirt off and oh my gosh.

"What? My shirt was sticking."

"I don't care. The guest room is this door right here if you need anything."

"Pia wait," Austin grabbed my hand and pulled me closer to him, "I need you."

"Austin, not right now. Put on a shirt then talk to me."

I turned around and started walking down the stairs. I wasn't even halfway down the stairs when thunder struck and it made me jump making me miss a step and fall down the steps. I ended up just freezing at the end where I stopped falling, well slipping, sliding whatever.

I slowly turned around to see if Austin was still watching and he was. I pressed my lips together and looked down. He was laughing so hard that he dropped down to the floor.

Embarrassed I scooted the rest of the way down the stairs.

"Pia?" My head shot up to the sound of my name.

"Yes mom?"

"What are you doing?"

"I um... I fell."

My mom just rolled her eyes and walked, back to the kitchen.

I slowly got up and followed her. My dad and Austin's dad didn't seem to be getting along like my mother and Ms. Michelle

"Hey Pia, get your brother and Austin and tell them the food is ready. I made spaghetti."

I did what she said even since it meant going back up the treacherous stairs and facing Austin and looking at my brother.

I took my time going up the stairs. I did what my mom told me and as soon as I start walking down the power went out and lightning hit sending light through the house one last time. I ran all the way back upstairs and straight to where Austin was in the guest room.

Before I made it to Austin, I hit something hard which didn't surprise me since I'm so clumsy.

"Ouch." Someone said.

"Are you guys okay?" My brother asked. He had a flashlight in his hand and I was so grateful.

"We're fine."

"Well come on."

My brother led the way down the stairs and I clung on to Austin because the last thing I want to do is fall down the stairs again in the dark.

"Pia?"

"Yeah?"

"Why were you running so fast?"

"Well it was dark, and the thunder..." I just closed my mouth and didn't say anything more.

"Is my baby scared?" Austin laced his fingers with mine making me feel so much better.

We got to the kitchen and Austin and I put some distance between us.
My parents gathered as much flashlights and candles as they could while the rest of us ate our spaghetti.

It kept thundering and it kept getting louder and louder.

Austin got closer to me and held my hand.

"You're shaking." He whispered.

My parents returned with light. She gave me, Austin and my brother each a flashlight and told us to go to our rooms and try to sleep.

It's not a secret that I'm scared of thunder so Austin holding my hand shouldn't have been a big deal right?

He was holding my hand as he led me up the stairs carefully making sure I wouldn't jump and trip again. I didn't realize that our parents were actually still in the room seeing us hold hands until we were halfway up the stairs.

There's no going back now. I'm going to have some explaining to do in the morning.
