"No move it to the left."
Party planning is no joke I thought putting up a banner would be easy but noooo one side is higher than the other, now it's too far right then it gets uneven again.

Not fun

"Ms. Perez, the copies are finished what do you want me to do with them?"

"Cynthia I told you a million times, go down to local shops and post those flyers everywhere. I want a good turnout."

"Well actually twice.. I think..." She corrected.

I crossed my arms and stared her down.

"Right. Okay" she took off running.

Don't get me wrong, I like Cynthia she's adorable but she gets in the way a lot.

I have to set up and decorate for this event and completely finish in 2 hours and I still have 4 hours of work to do.

My phone beeped and it was a message from my assistant Chloe.

I called her on my cell and she connected me to my caller.

I was thinking it was another customer but I was pleasantly surprised to hear my mothers voice.

"Pia, how are you doing sweetie?"

"I'm fine mom. How about you?"

"I'm worried. Every time I call you're working."

"Well mom that's the price of success I guess."

"Can success take a break and spend time with her family? It's almost thanksgiving and you're still in New York. Are you still coming?"

"Of course I am. I have a flight set up for tomorrow."

"Then why aren't you packing?"

"Mom I got to go. They need me."

"You work too hard. Have you been eating?"

"Bye mom."

I hung up and got back to work.

~

I finally got to my apartment at 11:00pm

I kicked off my heels and took down my bun.

I went to the kitchen to pour myself a glass of wine.

I played some music and actually started packing. Something I've been putting off all week

~

Walking back up this driveway so many memories rushed through my mind. I turned around and looked to the house across from mine.

I saw someone peek through the blinds and I quickly made my way through the door hoping nobody saw.

Who am I kidding, hoping Austin didn't see me.

When I left for New York after college he didn't take it too well and we haven't spoken since that day.

I miss him but I have to move on.
~

I walked into the kitchen. That's where I found my mom, my dad and my cousin.

"Pia!" My cousin said running to give me a hug.

"Welcome home." I hugged my dad, "Let me help you with your bags," he offered

I followed him through the house and once I stepped outside I saw Austin.

He was walking down the street to the same red Camaro, except now he passed up the car and was halfway across the street.

I looked away not wanting to stare at him his whole way here

"Pia..."

"Austin."

He wrapped me up in a bear hug and I hugged him just as tight.

"How are you I missed you." He didn't let me go. Now he was just holding me and I let him.

"I'm good. My party planning company kicked off this year."

"Exciting. My gym opened this year too, at least we stuck to some promises right?"

Ouch. When I told Austin I was moving to New York he made me promise we would keep in touch and text each other every day even though it may be a simple hi or a small update. I've gotten so busy the past 6 months that I forget to text back.

"Austin--"

"Don't apologize. I get it, things got busy. I'm glad you're here so let's make the most of it?"

"Sure." I smiled and nodded.

Austin held out his hand and I reached out to hold it. He led me down the driveway and I let him take me wherever he wanted to go.

"Do you remember the first time we met?" He asked me.

We started walking through the neighborhood. Not much has changed. There are still little kids who run around outside, well not run, they ride those hover boards which I think is dangerous, I mean what if they explode and the child gets hurt? When I was that age I was riding a rip stick. Now those were cool and you actually had to move your body to ride one.

"Um yeah it was on the other side of this street."

"No it wasn't."

I stopped dead in my tracks.

Not letting go of my hand, Austin turned to face me, "I actually bumped into you in the hallway before that. I wanted to get your attention but I guess it didn't work like I thought it would."

"What do you like you thought it would?"

"You know how in movies and books the guy and the girl bump into each other and they make eye contact and fall in love. You know cause of love at first sight?"

"Austin--"

"You didn't even look me in eyes that time. And any time after that you were too preoccupied with your friends."

"So then after that you thought okay then I guess I'll take my shirt off and she'll notice me."

"No. It didn't happen like that I swear!"

"Really Austin? So how did it happen?!" Austin had the biggest smile on his face and if you asked me he was blushing.

Now I feel like a butt for not calling him these past couple of months.

I looked down at our hands still intertwined with one another.

"Austin I--"
I hate that ringtone. I swear people have the worst timing. Who is calling me?
"--I have to answer my phone it's my mom."
