Chapter 2
-------------~-----------------------
That night the plan was developed. At midnight, I snuck through my window with much difficulty.
"Ow!" I hissed, falling back down the side of the house. Rubbing my aching behind, I stared up at my window, 10 feet up. Why are houses so big? With a sigh I started my long, unsuccessful hike back up the house. Finally, after cautioning greatly, I reached the windowsill.
"Ha!" I panted, now sitting cross legged on my window sill. "Beat that life!" A sound of breaking branches was heard as a gigantic pile of snow fell out of the tree above me, aiming for me. I screeched and tumbled through the open window before it could land on me and make me fall, again.
My room is always the same. Frosted, baby blue walls, icicles hanging from my popcorn ceiling, its home to me.
I slowly inch around the room, careful not to wake Mom in the next room. I'm looking for my backpack, so I can pack necessities for my journey, which is why I decided to return to my room. Not only was I running away, but I was going to chase my dream. No trainers school was going to keep me from that.
Suddenly I realized that my backpack was downstairs.
"Oh great." I hissed under my breath. I gathered the things I needed in my arms and slowly hobbled down the stairs.
I sighed with relief when I spotted the bag 3 feel away from where I was. Slowly I took a step forwards and BOOM! Mom left her purse there. My stuff clattered to the ground loudly.
There was no time to rub my throbbing knee, because I could hear Mom stirring upstairs. Rushing, I stuffed the items in my bag and ran to the door.
"Burglars!" I heard Mom scream upstairs. Her Zigzagoon slithered down the stairs and started yapping. I didn't have much time. I quickly unfastened the locks to the front door, not caring that I just set off an alarm, and darted out the door just as Mom stumbled down the stairs in her nightgown.
Now all I had to do was run. Luckily, living in Pallet Town in Kanto I'm not so far away from my destination; The Pokemon Lab.
I hear Mom shouting behind me, but I don't care. Why should I listen to her? After all, she thinks I'm a failure.
Panting, I reach the lab, and hide behind a wall as my Mom and Zigzagoon race past, thinking I ran into Route 1. Sighing I relax against the wall, but I feel a tug on my shirt collar as someone pulls me inside the lab. Before I can scream they put a hand over my mouth.
"Who are you, and what do you want?" The person hisses in my ear. I can tell by the voice that its a boy.
My instincts take over, and I reach over to punch him across the face. He howls in pain, and clutches his cheek.
"Why did a punch from a girl hurt so bad?" The boy whines. I now get a clear view of him. He has orange hair, green eyes, and light freckles splattered over his slim face.
"I can punch you again if you want." I offer casually, blowing on my hand.
"No!" The boy screams. "There is something seriously wrong with your hand!" I roll my eyes, and walk towards a computer. 3 Pokeballs lay unguarded by the keyboard. The screensaver of the computer is an old man and what looks like his grandson. Holding my breath, I reach for one of the smooth, red and white balls that I have longed for for so long...
"Stop!" The boy screams suddenly. He can't be any older than 12. I glance over my shoulder at him.
"I'm not waiting any longer, kid." I huff, grabbing the Pokeball and slipping it in my bag.
