Chapter 13

-------------~-----------------------

"Hey! Yo, Monique! Wake up!"

"Go away. Its 11:00 at night."

"Did I forget to mention that the boat back to Kanto leaves in an hour?"

"WHAT?!" Monique sat up immediately, and would've knocked into my head if I hadn't moved out of the way. "What do you mean, you forgot to mention?"

"I found out last night while you were asleep. He he...sorry." I apologized. She glared at me and got out of the bed. I had woken up 30 minutes before, and was already ready to go. My eyes felt puffy still from the lack of sleep, but waking up early meant I would get back home. Thats all that mattered.

Making sure nothing around her was flammable, Monique glanced around before setting herself on fire. I stepped back, and the sudden heat woke Glaceon, who was sleeping on my bed before that.

"All clean," Monique announced, then looked down at her pajamas that were now on fire. "Dang it. I'm going to go change before the smoke alarms go off." She grabbed her backpack and disappeared into the bathroom.

"Ready to go home, Glaceon?" I asked my partner. She nodded, obviously still a little tired. It made me miss Startle. He would've been right by my side, energetic and ready to go.

I sighed and sat down on the bed, checking over the items in my backpack while I waited for Monique to get done. 15 minutes later, she arrived, with her hair on fire.

"What did you do?" I asked, trying not to laugh.

"This is what happens when I try to do my hair," She said angrily, shaking her head. Unfortunately that send embers flying through the air, and set a few things on fire. Alarmed, Glaceon jumped on my shoulder. I stood up, and slung my backpack over my shoulder.

"Lets get out of here!" I cried. Monique scooped up her already-packed bag and followed me quickly out the door. Then I realized something, as we were walking down the hall. Civilians + Girl-with-hair-on-fire = Chaos.

"Monique, kneel down," I ordered.

"What?"

"Just do it!"

So Monique knelt down and I started blowing on her hair, gagging at the smoky smell. Anyone who might've witnessed this scene would've been forever scarred.

Once the fire was out, I told her she could stand up again and we continued down the hall.

"Hello!" A night guard greeted, not sounding suspicious in the slightest.

"Hi! You may want to send a couple employees to do a heavy-duty cleanup in our room like, really soon," Monique told him, placing the key on Nurse Joy's desk. When he gave her a disapproving and questioning look, she added, "We didn't trash it, I promise. Or, not literally, anyways." Before he could or ask what we were up to, Monique and I dashed out the doors and ran out of the alley. It led right into the city square, which had a lot more alleys connected all around. I checked my watch, which read 11:29. No one else roamed the streets, which I found surprising, but boat horns blared in the distance.

"Which way do we go?" Monique questioned, trying to get a better look down each alley. I shrugged.

"I don't have my X-Transceiver to check." I replied with a sigh. Thanks a lot, Orange, I added silently.

"Lets just follow the sound of boats," Monique suggested, "It'll get us somewhere." I nodded and agreement and we listened.

"That way," I whispered, pointing to the way we came.
