Chapter 7

-------------~-----------------------

"That's right, Ellie Thompson." Said a familiar voice above the 3 birds. "I always knew you were smart. You figured it out." The person moved into my sight, revealing the speaker. I was left staring into the eyes of my old ally, Orange Oak.

"O-orange?" I gasped, my ice skates melting from the burning impact, turning my sneakers wet. The ice along the sides of the ditch melted along with my pain. Orange laughed. The birds turned to him.

"I knew something was up the moment I met you, Ellie Thompson." he said, jumping down into the hole with us. He looked older, wiser, than the last time I saw him. I was surprised to find tears in my eyes. "So long ago... in the lab. I was just an innocent child. Now I've grown." Electricity crackled over his head.

"How old did you think I was?" He snapped.

"I-I don't know." I stuttered. "10 maybe?" He snickered.

"Do you know how old I really am?" He asked, his voice full of curiosity.

"I don't know. 17, maybe?"

"Bingo." He laughed. "I can look young when I really want to, I guess." He said. Zapdos leaned down and Orange stroked its spiky head. Orange just then noticed Monique.

"Oh my, the fire one. I thought we'd have to journey all over to find her." He scoffed. Flames appeared in Monique's fists.

"Watch it, buddy." She seethed. Orange just waved it off.

"Oh puh-lease. You'll thank me eventually. I practically just saved your lives. Practically." He jumped onto Zapdos' back and motioned for us. "Well? What are you waiting for?" He asked. Monique skeptically jumped onto Moltres, but I wasn't so sure.

"How do I know I can trust you? You left me once already." I said to Orange. Glaceon nodded agreement. Orange settled his gaze on her, then looked away.

"Because you were my friend." His face almost morphed to look like he was 10 again. I forced myself not to feel pity.

"'Were' is the key word there." I said, avoiding his gaze. "You left me heartbroken once already."

"Just give it a chance." Orange insisted.

"I said no once already." I said, a new fire in my ambition. "Now go away before I freeze your head off." Orange looked at me evilly.

"Fine. Lets go, Fire Girl." Orange said, preparing Zapdos for take off.

"Don't call me that." Monique started, "And I'm not going with you if Ellie doesn't come." Orange's face turned as red as his hair.

"I didn't want to do this but..." He put his hand in front of our faces, and I didn't have time to process what he was doing before he zapped me unconscious.

I woke up with my hands bound behind my back and my mouth duck taped. I had a moment of panic before remembering what had happened. I tried to keep calm by looking around the 'room.' Actually, I think it was more of a car, or a vehicle of some sort.

Glaceon was unconscious next to me, and Monique was staring at me from across the room, her eyes wide. I raised my eyebrows at her, and she shrugged. I guess she knew just as much as I did at this point.

Suddenly a cargo door open and-oh great- Orange stepped out. He was wearing a full suit, blue and yellow with lightning bolts jolting down the middle. It had a blue hood, conflicting with the color of his flame colored hair.

"Its showtime!" He told us, clapping his gloved hands together. I muffled a snide remark, but he obviously took no notice. "I'm giving you each 3 minutes to change. Ick, there is no way I'm going to dress either of you." Orange cut my duct tapes and shoved me into a room. I spit the foul taste onto the ground. A light blue suit like his lay on a bench in front of me, except the design pattern was a freaking snowflake. There was also one with Monique's name on it, red and yellow with an orange flare in the middle.

A smirk crept up my face as I developed a plan. Orange wanted us to show our true identities? Well, tough. I'm not showing my power to anyone anytime soon.

I switched the name tags on the outfits around and scribbled a quick note onto the one with my name on it.

Monique,

Its all part of the plan. Trust me on this.

-Ellie

I wrote with a pen that was in a cup holder.

"2 minutes!" Orange called from outside. I slipped the fire suit on over my old, scraped up clothes and fir the hood so it wouldn't show my white hair in this fiery suit. So no one would get suspicious.

A female guard burst in the second door a moment later, taping my hands and mouth again. I got a glimpse at Monique being heaved in as I was ushered away.

Where are we going? I wondered to myself. I didn't have to worry for long. They heaved me into yet another room, (this was a big car) and pulled the tape off my mouth. It hurt.

"Hey!" I screamed. The guard pushed me in and slammed the door. The car swerved and I fell on my bottom, unable to get up because of my hands, still taped together. Monique arrived a couple minutes later, looking out of place in the ice suit.

When they ripped the tape off her mouth she kicked him. Hard. The guard shouted some not nice words and pushed her to the ground by me.

"Jerks." She mumbled.

"Tell me about it." I grumbled back. Glaceon was unexpectedly pushed in a moment later, dressed as a clown, her legs all taped together. She tried to bite the guard, who slapped her jaw and sent her spiraling into the tin wall.

"Hey! Watch it, jerk!" I screamed at him, scooting over to kick him in the shin. He tried to step on my foot but I lifted my leg faster and tripped him, then used my feet to slam the door in his face, hearing the thud and his scream of pain.

"Nice." Monique commented dully. I nodded and rushed over to Glaceon, who seemed to be unconscious again. I sighed.

"Well this sucks." I said. "First we were chased by some giant legendaries, kidnapped by my old friend and forced into a ridiculous clown outfit." We said nothing, and listened to the road bumping. Suddenly, the vehicle skidded to a halt and Orange burst into the room.

"Showtime!" He repeated. "Its time for the first annual, Elemental Circus!" Monique and I stared at him, then started to laugh.

"You're kidding, right?" I laughed. He set his jaw and shook his head.

"No, I'm not." He said irritably. "And would it kill you to read the name labels? I mean, now they'll think that Ellie is fire and Monnie over here is ice."

"Don't call me that." Monique snapped. Orange rolled his eyes.

"We're here. Get out." he said. He cut my tape so I could get up, so I slugged him in the face. This was not going to end well.
