Chapter 8
-------------~-----------------------
Orange was knocked out immediately. No, it was not because I have 'super human strength.' Answer me this; Have I ever mentioned my strength being anything out of the ordinary?
If you answered no, then you win! (Insert prize here!) He was knocked out because of the ice I called upon. His brain was froze, a literal brain freeze. (You can never have too many puns with my power!) I ripped off the suit and dashed outside. "Run, Monique!" My white hair spilled in curls from the hood as I took it off. I have never been so glad to have tattered clothing that made me look homeless in my life.
"Elemental Circus? Puh-lease." Monique said, ripping off her suit as well. "Who's 'Fire Girl' now?" She kicked Orange's head and we ran off.
We jumped out of the moving vehicle before the guards came spiraling out onto the road. Luckily I had grabbed an unconscious Glaceon on the way out. I took off the ridiculous costume, but the white face and red nose still remained.
"Where are we?" Monique called against the wind. I allowed myself a small pause to take in my surroundings. We were definitely not in Kanto. Where had Orange taken us? Monique had to pull me along before the guards caught me. I shot a blast of ice at his head and he fell dramatically. His forces tripped over his body and they fell like dominoes.
"Nice shot!" Monique commented. I nodded my acknowledgement and kept running. We had done a lot of running lately. My legs were starting to get used to it.
I tucked Glaceon in my jacket so she wouldn't get in my way and, typical, we ran into a forest.
"Forests international." I mumbled as we, with no choice, kept running deeper. "Lets try not to fall into any holes this time." Monique flashed me a small smile and, of course this happens, while she was not looking her fell into- guess what- a hole. Luckily I grabbed a vine in the tree above and we were dangling above a 20 foot hole below us. The hole was armed with a net and dynamite. I guess someone was expecting us.
"Really? REALLY?! You have to be freaking kidding me!" I screamed. I was clinging desperately to a the vine, my hands unusually sweaty, with Monique hanging from my leg. Her face was pale, almost like my regular skin color.
From inside my jacked, Glaceon stirred. She peeped her head out and shrieked when she saw the situation we were in, she huddled back in my jacket. The small impact made me slip an inch further.
"Don't let go, Ellie!" Monique pleaded hoarsely.
"Yeah, like I would let us both fall into a pit of dynamite." I said sarcastically. "I don't think so." I closed my eyes and concentrated on not dying. Sounds easy, right? Wrong. After what seemed like hours, I opened my eyes to see Monique staring panicked into the distance.
"What is it?" I whispered. "More guards?" She gulped and shook her head. I followed her gaze to see a particularly curious caterpillar like Pokemon with a little yellow, bubbly body and a leaf around its head. Too bad I had left my pokedex back in Pewter City Gym.
"Whats wrong with that little guy?" I cooed, "Its cute. Hey little guy!" The caterpillar turned my way and I almost screamed. Its eyes were glowing blood-red. It scuttled, at a very fast pace, towards us.
"Oh, great Arceus." Monique gasped.
"CLIMB!" I call, holding my grip on the vine as the Pokemon got closer. Monique, seeing she was taller that me, reached up and only had to scramble up a little bit to grab hold of the vine. Glaceon gratefully climbed up with her and Monique heaved me up to sit on the branch as the Pokemon fell on the fit, igniting the detonator. It seemed to come out of its trance as it fell, squealing in protest, and bouncing upwards like a little rocket as the dynamite exploded. I caught the Pokemon with one arm as it hurtled past and covered my face with the other as the debris and smoke.
A moment later it all cleared. The vine we had been holding before was shredded and the branch we were sitting on was cracked and leaning in a very concerning way.
"We're alive!" I shouted happily, throwing my arms into the air, and the, almost falling off. Glaceon 'whooped' happily. Monique laughed. We were safe. For now. The branch cracked again and we all looked up.
"We better get down." Monique suggested. I nodded quickly. We got down just in time for the entire tree to fall down, into the blown-up pit. I did a little victory dance.
"We liiived. We liiived." I sang. Our newest member of the gang, the little caterpillar, did some kind of dance as well. Its eyes were no longer red, which was a relief.
"So who are you?" I asked it.
"Sewaddle." It said.
"Sewaddle... not Kanto, thats for sure. I wonder where we are."
"Unova." Said Sewaddle.
"Ah!" Both Monique and I jumped. Glaceon sniffed the new Pokemon carefully.
"Di-did you just say something?" Monique asked it. Sewaddle nodded.
"Sewaddle." Monique and I exchanged creeped out glances.
"So...are you going to join our merry little group?" I asked it.
"Seeeeeeeewaddle!" It said, happily nodding and bouncing up and down. I reached in my pocket, to find it empty. No Pokeballs. Which meant we were going to have to find a town first.
"I'm going to call you 'Startle.'" I announced. "Since you have already startled us like, what, twice in the last 5 minutes?" It smiled, its little cheeks blushing slightly.
"Next town?" Monique asked. "Maybe find out where we are? And find out how to get home?"
"Next town." I confirmed. We were off again, ready to face our next adventure.
