Chapter 14.5

--------------~---------------

I took a step into the bay and noticed the water start to slush under my foot. I didn't realize how much my powers had grown until that moment. After everything that's happened...what was my purpose?

I took another step into the liquid and was pleased when it froze completely under my touch. Monique gulped and shifted uneasily behind me.

"Not again...gosh dang it why am I still keeping up with that..." I heard her muttering under her breath. I rolled my eyes.

"Come on Monique. Here we go!"

It went slow. Not as quite as slow in Unova, only a few hours. Without having to make our path one block of ice at a time, we could make progress much faster, and with much less whining.

The only thing that was the same was the amount of energy it took. You'd think walking on water would be pretty easy right? Wrong. Once Monique and I finally made it across this body of water, I felt like I was going to pass out.

"Come on Ellie. It's not even noon yet." Monique criticized.

I caught my breath and answered back, "Sorry...but would you rather have been suffocating in Verdian Forest right now? Monique rolled her eyes and looked around at the familiar sight of Pallet Town. It seemed like ages since we had last been here.

What would my parents think of me, I thought to myself. After everything that's happened, they would have to be proud of me right?

"So Ellie, where are we going first?" Monique asked me, attempting to keep us going. I was just about to answer her when a man in a nice, orderly uniform walked up to us and wasted no time before asking us in a formal monotone, "Are either of you Ellie Thompson?" If I had any more energy left, I probably would answer no and deal with the consequences later, but with the lack of energy left in me, I just gave the simple answer, "Yes."

"Well, we need you at the poke center." Monique knew I didn't have enough energy to really think about this, so she asked what I should have, "Why?"

"Because Ellie Thompson has been missing for almost two weeks. Her mother sent us a request to find her. So you say you're Ellie Thompson?"

With the lack of energy I had, I just nodded, shortly followed by the officer motioning towards the recently built poke center.

Monique suddenly pulled me to the side and whispered, "Are you sure you should trust him? He could be with Orange and Hickory."

I quickly whispered back, "Good point." I turned back towards the police officer, who was being very patient, considering I had been missing for two weeks, and I asked, "Is there a bed I can sleep in?"

"Yes." He answered, with a bit of puzzlement on his face.

I answered back towards Monique, "Alright then, it's settled. We're going to the poke center." Monique sighed hearing this, but decided it was for the best that she not argue it. Once we were inside the poke center, I gave Nurse Joy my three pokémon to rest, then I took a room key lazily from her and disappeared into the corresponding room.

According to Monique, she didn't even have time to make it to the room I took before I was out. She rounded the door and I was already asleep on a bunk. I was so tired I couldn't remember anything after I met the police officer. The single thing I can remember about that moment was the pure bliss when I fell asleep.

"Come on Ellie, wake up!"

"Just five more minutes..." I groggily replied to the voice above me, hoping it would just go away.
