Chapter 5
-------------~-----------------------
I glanced at Glaceon. Glaceon glanced at me. Its not everyday that you find a girl in the midst of a flaming forest.
"We can't leave her there!" I yell to Glaceon, over the crackle of the fire. Then again, we aren't really going anywhere either.
"Gla-glaceon!" My partner replies, trying to be heard over the roaring of the flames. We can't really go in the flames and save her, because fire is my ultimate weakness, and we kind of need saving ourselves. I see the girl sit down and it gives me an idea.
"Glaceon, crouch down." I instruct her, feeling my throat get scratchy from all the smoke. There isn't much time before we all pass out because of the lack of oxygen. I crouch down beside Glaceon and get a tiny whiff of fresh air.
"Follow my lead." I tell Glaceon. She nods. "Glacee."
I crawl along the crumpled grass, hopefully Glaceon is right behind me, and we are getting closer to the girl by the second. Finally, she is only feet away. She turns and looks at me. Her gaze isn't full of shock or panic, it looks like humored apology? Oh, if only she knew how so NOT funny this was.
The fire had curled itself around, aiming for me again.
"What's your name?" I ask the girl hoarsely.
"Monique." She replies. She doesn't sound like she hasn't been sitting in a fire, inhaling all the carbon dioxide.
The tunnel I had been so fortunate to crawl through was now unfortunately gone, disappeared in the roaring flames. It was just Monique, Glaceon and me now, and there was nothing we could do. No firefighters to scoop us out of the flames, no tunnel to crawl to safety, just fire. Which way will take us closer to Pewter City? I took an estimated guess and told Glaceon to jump onto my shoulder.
"Okay, Monique, get ready to run!" With a cry of defiance I charged into the fire. Quite stupidly because I had no idea what fire could do to me at this point. It scorched my skin and I cried in pain. I shot blasts of ice but nothing happened except very faintly cooling my skin. I smelled of smoke, my skin was almost bubbling, when finally, I saw trees that weren't burning in the distance. I struggled forward as the fire started thinning out, and collapsed onto the sand. Thank Arceus there were already fire trucks and police cars waiting, and they immediately scooped me up and into the truck. I barely glimpsed Monique hiding in the flames before I passed out.

I woke up to continuous beeping. With a groan, I attempted to life my head, but it sent pain shooting up my neck. My whole body was sore, and yellow spots blurred my vision.
"Don't move, honey." Someone tells me. I can't turn to see who it is because I am in so much pain.
"Everything will be okay. You were scorched pretty badly by that fire." Footsteps sound and a face appears over my head. A pink haired nurse that looks exactly like Nurse Joy back in Viridian.
"Wh-ere's G-Glaceon?" I managed to ask hoarsely. My voice sounds ragged, and just talking sends pain into my neck.
"Oh, that blue Pokemon you had with you? She's being treated in another room. She will heal a lot faster then you will. I don't understand why-,...anyone else caught in a fire wouldn't be hurt this badly. Huh." Joy #2 walked off, out of the line of my vision. I know why, but I can't tell this nurse. I would always be hurt more by fire because of my power. I wonder if I even still have my power. I've never experienced fire like this before, so what if my ice was evaporated?
