I declined the call, tossing the phone back on the table.
"Are you sure it was a good idea?" Sweet Pea asked.
I sighed, curling back into his side. "Yes. No. I don't know. But Cooper doesn't want our help, so why waste our time and money?"
"It is nice not having to stand outside all day. Today's been perfect."
"How? All we've done is watch tv," I said, frowning up at him.
"True, but I've had you all to myself all day," Sweet Pea replied. "I don't like sharing you."
"Everyone knows that," I said, smiling up at him. "But I wouldn't mind more days like this."
"If that's what you want, we'll find a way to do it. Anything to make you happy."
I rolled my eyes. "Don't get cheesy on me," I warned.
"Sorry, babe, but that's what you get for making me fall in love with you," Sweet Pea said, pulling me into a kiss.
"I suppose I can forgive you if that's how you make up for it," I said, pulling back slightly. "Ignore it," I added as my phone started ringing.
And we ignored it the second time it rang as well. Unfortunately, whoever it was wasn't giving up. "What?" I snapped, not looking at who was calling.
"Abigail, meet Betty and I at the junkyard," Jughead said.
"And why would I do that?" I asked.
"We found General Pickens' head, and we know who did it."
"Congratulations. Just tell me who it was, no point in me going down there just for you to answer a question."
"Abigail, please," Jughead pleaded. "Just get over here. I need to call my dad, he needs to be here too."
"Fine, tell him to give me a ride over there," I sighed, hanging up.
"Don't go yet," Sweet Pea said, tightening his hold on me. "Can't you wait a few minutes?"
"I wish, but FP's gonna be here in a few minutes and I need to get dressed," I said, climbing off his lap. "Jughead and Betty found the head at the junkyard."
"If they have it already, why do you need to go down there?" Sweet Pea asked, following me into the bedroom.
"I don't know, but he won't tell me who cut it off unless I go. Maybe he thinks this will somehow help save him tonight." I dressed quickly, slipping on my jacket just as FP knocked on the door. "I'll see you later," I said, kissing Sweet Pea goodbye.
When FP and I pulled up in his truck, Betty and Jughead were near the entrance, an open bag at their feet. "Is that it?" FP called, climbing out of the truck.
The pair nodded. "Yeah, Junkyard Steve found it stashed in an old refrigerator," Jughead said.
"So, who did it?" I asked, kneeling down to look in the bag. It was the missing head all right.
"A Serpent," Jughead answered, looking between FP and I. "One who's been trying to get rid of me from day one."
FP looked at him sharply. "Are you sure?"
"Yeah, it has to be," Betty said, avoiding my eyes. "We asked Junkyard Steve if he saw he hid it and the description only fits him."
"I fucking knew it," I muttered, standing back up.
"What do you mean?" FP asked.
"You knew and didn't say anything?" Jughead asked.
"I didn't say anything because unlike you, I know how to keep my damn mouth shut when I need to," I snapped at Jughead. "Think about it. He was too calm the other night when you accused him of being the one to cut the statue's head off. Any other time the two of you have gone at each other, he's been shouting."
