In the world of Formula 1, Celia Winter is a force, to be reckoned with. As the first woman in decades to not only compete but also score points and win a Grand Prix and lead the championship, her story is one of breaking boundaries. But behind her remarkable racing career lies a personal journey marked by heartache and resilience.

At the tender age of 13, Celia faced a life-altering event when her mother made the decision to leave her family. Celia was the middle child of four siblings, with a younger sister at five and another at seven, and an older brother of 17.

The sudden absence of their mother left Celia and her siblings grappling with feelings of abandonment, confusion, and grief. Their father, though loving, was now faced with the daunting task of single-handedly raising three children having only support from their maternal grandparents. However Winter mentioned they were very conservative and not very supportive of her career and life choices.

"We were all going through a tough time," Celia recalls. "It was emotionally challenging for all of us, but we had to stick together. My older brother took on a significant role in our lives, stepping up as a father figure, while I tried to be a strong and supportive presence for my younger sisters."

Growing up in a family where resources weren't limited but only given for traditional things , Celia's dreams of becoming a professional racing driver seemed like a distant fantasy. However, the adversity she faced in her personal life became a powerful catalyst for her career. "I wanted to show my family that even in the face of adversity, we could achieve remarkable things. My journey into racing became a symbol of hope for all of us. It wasn't easy and my grandparents don't know til this day that I am a F1 driver" Celia explains.

As she pursued her passion for motorsport, Celia encountered gender biases and stereotypes that were prevalent in the world of racing. Being a woman in a male-dominated sport, she had to prove herself at every turn. Her determination and resilience stemmed from the struggles she had faced in her family life.

"Facing adversity at home and on the track taught me that perseverance and resilience are key to overcoming obstacles," Celia notes. "I knew that if I could handle the challenges in my personal life, I could certainly handle the pressures of a Formula 1 race."
