who would've known that getting paired up with your crush for a project would end up like this?

as you admired the brunette boy from across the classroom standing with the other group of kids at the front, you almost didn't hear your name being called from your teacher.

"y/n!" your teacher waved her hands at you to catch your attention. "please stand up and join the others and stop daydreaming." she sighed.

you quickly stood up out of your seat and walked to the front. no one moved for you to squeeze into the row, except for chris, your crush. he smiled at you as he stepped to the side a bit. you hardly noticed yourself staring at him for a second before squeezing next to him. your heart pounded as you felt your shoulders touch.

"alright, now for this next project i am getting you guys some new seats," your teacher explained as she stood in front of you all. "this project will be a partner project. i am going to choose who you sit with, and that person will be your partner."

some kids groaned but you and chris both stayed silent, secretly hoping to get each other. your teacher started going down the row partnering people up and pointing to their seats; until it finally came to you and chris.

"well, i guess i could just put you guys together then," she mumbled looking at the both of us, then clicking her tongue. "alright, y/n and chris, over at that table." she pointed to a table in the back.

you looked over at chris, not noticing your widened eyes. he flashed a smile at you again as you followed him to the table. your head felt foggy as you and the boy sat next to each other.

"i'm chris by the way." chris looked at you with his blue eyes.

"i know."

"yeah, makes since. you're y/n, right?"

you nodded your head and chris nodded along. soon, your teacher gave you the instructions to your project and chris and you started planning it out.

it was weird how fast you two became friends, chris started saying hi to you in the hallways and you could've sworn you caught him staring at you a lot more recently. you guys started walking each other to classes, and even studying together in the library after school. chris loved hugging you as well, every time he had the chance, he would embrace you in his arms, and obviously you didn't mind it at all.

"hey so i was thinking you could come home with me today and we could finish up our project?" chris asked as you both sat at your table.

you paused for a second, not believing the question. "uh, yeah, yeah of course!" you smiled.

chris nodded as you focused up on the board.

the end of the day finally came, and you basically ran out of your last class, eager to see chris. you met the boy by the gym, and he hugged you the second he saw you.

"ready?" he asked you.

you nodded and watched chris put his hand out for you to take. you hesitantly took his hand as your fingers interlocked; and you both started walking.

you arrived at his house and he opened the door for you as you thanked him and walked in. you looked around the house as chris stepped in next to you. you both took your shoes off then headed up the stairs to find what seemed to be his mom in the kitchen cleaning the counters.

"hey mom, this is my friend y/n. we're just finishing up a project we need to work on together." chris explained with a smile.

"okay, hi y/n. i'm marylou it's nice to meet you." marylou smiled warmly as she walked over and gave you a hug.
