the drive was long, but peaceful. it was exactly what you and chris needed. this unbothered, not stressful time alone together. it was like a fresh breath of air. you were honestly surprised on how relived you started to feel the first twenty minutes of the drive, and it only got better. you felt like you didn't have to sneak around anymore, even though you knew your dad hated you now. it was okay, you had chris and that's all that mattered.

chris was still just as proud as he was when you guys left. and he noticed your mood lighten up a lot more once you left the house with him. something clicked and he watched it happen, and it was a good change. you and chris decided to talk a little later about what happened, and just enjoy the time you guys had right now.

you guys blasted music the whole drive to the beach house, singing along together. and once again, your spark returned. chris couldn't stop smiling at you, seeing how happy you looked. god, he loved you.

and after a long, but fun two hours you arrived at the beach house. it was really cold out over here, so you were glad your family regularly kept big coats here. you and chris grabbed your bags and headed inside; you were insanely grateful you had the beach house key with your car keys and house key on the same lanyard. you pushed the door open and followed behind chris into the house. it was cool being here in winter, but it felt a little strange. you turned on lights around the house and remembered the fire place and smiled.

"chris!" you called for your boyfriend who was currently scavenging around in the kitchen, looking for food.

"baby, there's no food in here!" chris called back from the kitchen as you heard the refrigerator door close for the third time.

you laughed. "chris, we aren't here in the winter! that's why."

you heard chris let out a dramatic groan as he made his way back to you in the living room. "what's up?" he asked, walking over to you as he ran a hand through his hair.

"i remembered we have a fireplace! we should get it going tonight." you smiled at him, pointing to the fireplace. "i think we still have some firewood..." you walked over to a cabinet next to the fireplace and crouched down, pulling out some wood.

chris smiled at you back. "whatever you want, princess." chris spoke softly. "but, i am actually starving right now and would love to go get some food since we skipped breakfast." chris walked closer to you, placing his hands on your waist.

"oh! we should go to this one restaurant, you'd love it. i love the food there." you raised your eyebrows.

"lets go then." chris chuckled and leaned in, placing a quick kiss on your lips then took your hand. "oh, wait i'm gonna change really fast though." chris stopped, walking towards his backpack.

"okay, i'll meet you in the car." you nodded, grabbing your car keys again then parting your ways.

chris came out of the house a few minutes later in a new hoodie and a pair of jeans. he looked really cute right now and you couldn't help but smile as you felt your face slightly heat up. you watched as he opened the passenger car seat and enter the car, the sweet smell of his cologne filling the car.

"ready?" he asked, buckling his seatbelt.

"yeah. you look great." you shot him a smile and started the car.

"thank you. you look beautiful." chris leaned over the center console and kissed your cheek a few times, making your nose scrunch up as you giggled.
