you had gotten the call yesterday afternoon. it was one of your closest friends asking you to babysit her new kitten she had gotten a few weeks ago. she was going on a family trip for the weekend and wanted you to watch over her while she was gone. you took no time in saying yes, immediately thinking about chris, your boyfriend that you have been dating for years now.

you and chris lived in a small apartment, but it was big enough for you and him and you both loved it. and, now that you were thinking about it; it was also big enough for a kitten as well.

you informed chris the minute after you had hung up the call with your friend and just as you assumed, he was even more excited than you were to babysit this kitten for the weekend. she was a little orange kitten named nala, and chris insisted on seeing photos of her before she got here. you watched chris in awe as he scrolled through the photos of nala on your phone with a big smile on his face.

"baby, we need to get her some treats or something." chris looked over at you with a sparkle in his eyes, handing the phone back to you.

you giggled, "chris, she said she's going to bring all of nala's things and treats and toys. so we don't need to worry about it, okay?" you explained, earning a disappointed groan from chris. you laughed, leaning over and pressing a kiss to the side of chris's head.

today was now the day nala was coming over to spend a couple nights here at yours and chris's apartment. chris ended up cleaning the whole house for the kitten; he even rearranged some of the furniture to make it more comfortable for nala. you asked him if it was necessary, and chris said it was so you let him do his thing.

you walked out of yours and chris's bedroom into the small living room in your apartment, seeing chris sitting on the sofa, scrolling mindlessly through his phone. he was currently shirtless with a pair of sweatpants hanging loosely on his hips.

"chris, they're on their way. put a shirt on, babe." you sighed, walking into the kitchen and grabbing a water bottle from the fridge. chris clicked off his phone and tossed it onto the sofa next to him, standing up and stretching his arms over his head, letting out a dramatic groan then walking over to you in the kitchen.

chris stood behind you, wrapping his arms around your shoulders and burying his face in the crook of your neck, the slight stubble on his jaw tickling your neck. you smiled, setting your water down on the counter next to you and wrapping your arms around chris's arms. "i'm so excited." chris mumbled.

"i know," you giggled. "me too." chris smiled, inhaling deeply then exhaling as you felt his breath fan against your neck.

"okay, pretty boy. go get dressed." you stirred in chris's arms, slightly stepping back to meet his face, looking up into his blue eyes.

chris nodded, looking back down at you. "alright, fine." he spoke slowly, his tone low as you dragged a hand through his messy hair. chris pressed a quick kiss to your lips then playfully smacked your ass and started to walk off to your bedroom.

"hey!" you shrieked as you heard chris cackle from behind the bedroom door. "asshole." you said under your breath jokingly.

a few minutes later there was a knock at your apartment door. you smiled, walking over to the door then opening it. your eyes were met with your friend and her holding a cat carrier with nala inside, and a duffle bag with her things inside.

"hey, y/n!" your friend smiled as you stepped to the side, letting your friend in the apartment.

"hey. y/f/n!" you kept the smile on your face, shutting the door to the apartment and following your friend who was setting all of nalas things down in the living room. "oh my god, you don't understand how excited chris is to babysit nala. he literally has not shut up about it." you laughed, taking a seat on the sofa and moving chris's phone onto the coffee table in front of you.
