you never knew just how protective your boyfriend could be over you until now, and it was amusing to witness for you, especially considering because he has never acted this was around you or about you ever, it genuinely started to concern you. he has never failed to tell you just how much you mean to him, and he's said previously there are not a lot of things that he wouldn't do for you. you recently just fully comprehended what he meant by that, and it shocked you to see this side of him.

you allowed chris to wrap his carhartt jacket around you as you shivered from the cold autumn breeze outside. you sighed in relief once you felt the extra layer be added to you, your body immediately adjusting to the warmth that his jacket brought you. he smiled down at you as you looked up at him through your eyelashes, then he gently cupped your face, pressing a kiss against your forehead.

your nose scrunched up as he did so. "okay, can we go? i'm still cold as fuck." you asked as he pulled away from you and dropped your face.

"alright, come on then." he chuckled, taking your hand. you huddled close to your boyfriend and stayed close by him as you continued to walk down the street to the coffee shop where you two were planning on getting a hot drink at.

once you arrived to the said coffee shop, chris held open the door for you as you gave him a cheesy grin and walked inside, him shortly behind you. you both walked up to the counter and waited in the short line for your turn to order.

as you both were waiting, chris's attention was turned away from you to a group of boys who go to your high school; they were all looking at you specifically. one of the guys in particular couldn't take his eyes away from you, while the others were giving quick glances and cackling with each other. his jaw tightened as he watched the one guy practically drooling over you. and he just about lost it when he watched the guys eyes slide down to your ass. you felt his grip tighten around your hand, causing you to look down at your fingers intertwined together.

"chris?" your sweet voice called, forcing his attention to tear away from the group. his jaw loosened partly as his eyes met yours. you gave him a confused smile, furrowing your eyebrows at him. "you okay, baby?" you asked, searching over his face as if you could find his worries.

his mouth opened, then shut. he glanced away from you and to the group of boys. then back at you. his mouth opened again, "uh," he didn't know what to say. "yeah fine, just stay close to me, alright?"

you didn't understand why his mood had changed so suddenly. "chris, what's wrong?" you asked worried.

he saw the worried expression on your face and he started to feel a little guilty. he shook his head, dropping your hand then wrapping his arm around your waist, pulling you into him as his hand slid down to your hip. "nothing, ma." he said as you moved up a spot in line. you looked up at him, noticing he still looked somewhat tense. you ignored it for now, returning your attention back on the line in front of you.

eventually, you and your boyfriend stepped up to the counter and ordered your drinks then stepped to the side to wait for them. as you and chris were talking, there was somebody behind you who called your name. you immediately felt the boy at your side tense up as you spun around to see who called your name.

"hey, y/n right?" a guy from your school asked, walking up to you. you knew him from your biology class. you didn't know him super well, but you knew his name.

you smiled. "yeah, hi, lucas."  you watched his face quickly turn shocked.

"you know my name?" he asked. chris cringed, he thought this guy was already annoying. "damn, i didn't even think you knew who i was." he chuckled. you kept the smile on your face, still confused on what he wanted. you glanced behind him to see a group of guys watching and cackling with each other, one was holding up a phone and that was when you realized what this kid wanted. you let out a shaky breath, waiting for the second you needed to reject him.
