City Lights (Lumity)

Chapter. 1 "The Email"

"Aaaaaannnndd send!" Luz said while clicking the 'send' button. She didn't have a lot of hope that she would get a response but it was the last thing she could think of to do what she wanted to do.

Luz had always been interested in music so her mom signed Luz up for some drumming lessons in a music school nearby when Luz was 9 which wasn't unheard of but she still was younger then most people there. She felt weird but everything worked out and she only has one year left in there and 3 years left in high school. The one problem she faced was trying to pursue a career in music which is surprisingly very hard. She has been in about 4-6 bands now with all of them ending with Luz leaving because they didn't care about what they were making and they were lazy and homophobic and/ or transphobic and whatever else they were.

She hopes to get into Amity's backing band but knows that her chances are very slim but there is a chance and Amity's song's are insanely good so yeah that would be perfect for her. Amity also looked amazing in Luz's opinion and pretty privileges or whatever.

Anyhow she had to wait for a response that wasn't a robot telling her to wait so she went to bed. Luz pulled out her "Playlist Of Bangers" as she called it and played it quietly so she could drift off to sleep.

The playlist consisted mainly of song's Luz wanted to learn but she didn't always have time so listening to them and taking notes was the second best option. She tucked herself into bed as her mom walked halfway up the stairs to tell her "Light's out in 10 okay mija?" To which Luz chuckled a bit "Okay mama " Luz said to which Camila started walking down the stairs to head to bed "Sleep well I love you!" Luz's mom yelled. "I love you too goodnight!!" Luz yelled back.

Luz's eyes became hazy and heavy but before Luz could fall asleep a song came on titled "City Light's" by the one and only Amity Blight. She thought about Amity again and decided to check her phone. She had an email notification! Luz grew excited with the possibility of this being Amity. "Ohhh comon comon comon please be Amity please be-". It was Amity Blight!

Luz quietly freaked out and after 10 minutes of squealing and shaking her arms and legs she opened it. It was way too professional for Luz to understand but what she understood was if Luz could send a video of Luz playing "anything you think is impressive" and If Luz lives anywhere near Connecticut because most of her gigs are there and transport is easier and blah blah blah. Luz does live in Connecticut specifically in Gravesfield so that is a check. The video was a tougher one cause yes she can send a video but what would she even play.

She slept on it.

When Luz woke up she knew exactly what she would do. First a cover of Caravan specifically the one they made for the movie "Whiplash" and a cover of City Light's by Amity Blight.

"So Caravan show's my skills in improvisation, Jazz and overall technicality and City Light's could show Amity how capable I am of learning new thing's and to impress her I'm gonna add some crazy chops in there! That's the perfect plan!!" Luz rambled while walking pacing back and forth. Her mom didn't seem to quite understand her tho and just said "I'm sure it is mija" while kissing Luz on the forehead.

"Okay I'm heading out for school mama!"
Luz yelled while hanging onto the doorknob. Camila looked at her with proud eyes and said goodbye.

Luz walked outside onto her porch and out the gate as quickly as possible to meet up with Willow. Willow has been Luz's best friend since middle school and even though Willow likes Amity's music she doesn't LIKE like her like Luz does. Luz started speedwalking to a small local store where she would meet up with Willow to tell her the news!

Luz liked to drag the heels of her shoe soles on the concrete it felt very satisfying to her and without realizing Luz was already in front of the store.
