A/N from now on, Belle will be referred to as Dawn, because that is what she thinks of herself as. So Belle is now Dawn. Okay, read on!
***********************************************
Dawn POV
My head hurt. Was it my head? It didn't feel like it. My back was sore. I was sitting in a room with no windows, and the lights went on and off periodically. They seemed to have a schedule, but i was too disoriented to figure it out. I had two things on my back, they felt like butterfly wings. Could i fly? I seemed to be sparkly as well. I must be going insane. Okay, let me review what i know.
My name is Belle.
No, that doesn't sound right. Who is Belle? No...my name is...Dawn. My name is Dawn. Yes, okay.
I am pregnant. This was still true.
I have things that feel like wings on my back.
I am glittery
I am....16 years old. Right? Yeah. 16.
I sighed. Belle. What kind of crazy name is that? Sounds like a Disney princess or something. Wait...What's Disney? What's a princess?
"Ugh!" I shouted in frustration. So many things i knew, but didn't know! A door opened and the lights flickered back on. It was a guy wearing pale green clothes made of some weird material. He had something covering his face.
"Good afternoon, Dawn. I hope you have rested. Congratulations! You are the first human-fairy-mermaid hybrid ever!"
"What?" I asked, confused. His smile broadened.
"You are currently the least human human, in the entire world." He stated proudly.
"Is that a good thing?"
"Yes, dear Dawn, it is. For you see, your child will be the only human to completely change into something NOT human! Isn't that spectacular?" He exclaimed, waving his arms in a grand swooping gesture. I started to believe him, that this was a good, exciting thing.
"Yeah, i guess it is!" I said, perking up a little. "Are there others like me?" I asked.
"Yes, but there are no other hybrids. There are mermaids, but there are no fairies. Your wings are unique. We have other winged girls, but they have bird wings. Our prized bird Eve and you are our best experiments by far! All of the others are too powerful or not powerful enough. I cannot tell you how many failed operations we have had. But all has worked out in the end!" He rambled. I was slightly confused again. Failed operations? What?
"Anywho Dawn, it is time for you to go and meet your sisters! Come." He stood to the side of the doorway and gestured me through. I followed him joyfully, glad to be out of the little room.
********
Eve POV
We were lined up in the bunkhouse. Even the mermaids tanks were standing up so that they could be at attention. We were in line based on where our bunks were, so Lilla and i were at the front, because ours were closest to the door. The mermaids were at the end, because that is where their tanks were. We waited, at attention, for what seemed like forever. My wings were starting to ache from being just hanging there, but if i moved i would be violating the rules and i didn't want to risk it. Finally, the door swished open. It was a smooth white shiny thing and it slid into the wall. The bunkhouse was very clean, white and sterile. After a second, the man we had only seen a few times in our lives strode forward. He was the Doctor. He oversaw our training, but we rarely ever see him. With him, he had a girl. She had her head down, but lifted it up to look around once she entered. There was a collective gasp as we saw her. She....she sparkled! She had colored lines of glitter on her face forming flower stems and colorful, gorgeous flowers. Her fingers were slightly webbed, which was kind of odd. She turned slightly, and we all saw an amazing pair of blue-black butterfly wings on her back. My own wings ruffled slightly. That must be hard to sleep with! My wings could tuck behind my back slightly and actually made a pretty comfy nest when they were. But butterfly wings...what do you do with them? I refocused on the girl. Her hair fell in shiny, soft looking brown locks to her waist. She looked fairy, but there was something else...she looked kind of mermaid. The doctor cleared his throat.
"Ladies. Meet Dawn. She has a mix of Fae and Mer in her. Please keep her as dry as possible. If she gets wet, she will grow a tail. Treat her nicely. Her bunk will be here, just between Lilla and Sapphire."
So she was the third bunk down. Me, Lilla, her, Sapphire, and the rest. Interesting....shouldn't she go in front of me? Ah well, i get to keep my bed. Dawn placed the small bag with all of the belongings we had as well at the foot of her bunk and looked back to the doctor. He nodded at her, waved at the room, and left, the door sliding shut behind him. We all immediately swarmed the new girl.
************
Dawn POV
They all swarmed me. It was all too much, too much, all of their questions and poking and prodding...
"STOP!" I yelled. Glitter exploded from my out stretched palms. It was blue black. They all froze. I looked at my hands, shocked. The glitter landed on the floor and it immediately started to glow. The white floor, was glowing blue. Crap.
"Um, little help here?" I whispered. A girl with silvery-blonde hair stepped forward. Her eyes flashed silver.
"Hi, i'm Eve. What, um...what did you do?" She asked. Her voice was pleasant sounding, and it had a trill to it, as if she was about to sing.
"I don't know! It just kind of...happened." I muttered. She giggled. It sounded like bells.
"Well...i don't know what to do about it. I guess we'll just see if it wears itself out and goes away!" She exclaimed. As she spoke, she moved her arms up into the air and i saw a pair of silver feathery wings on her back. I remembered that everyone here was...different. I looked around, seeing another pair of wings, antlers, cat ears, white hair, blue skin, and three suspicious looking tanks in the back. I gestured to them.
"What's over there?" I asked. Eve gasped.
"Oh! You need to meet out resident mermaids!" She grabbed my hand and half dragged half flew me over there. I saw three gorgeous mermaids in three separate tanks. They had webbed hands and brightly colored tails. They all waved. I waved back.
"They can only talk when their tanks are laid down and we open the top so that we can hear them." Eve explained. Her wings moved with her hand movements, like she was using them to express her point as well. I saw a blur of purple before something attacked me.
"AHH!" I screamed.
"LILLA! What did i say about tackling people?" Eve scolded. The purple thing giggled.
"Sorry Evie. Hello sparkly person, i'm Lilla." The purple blob moved away enough for me to see a pair of bright purple eyes, light purple hair, and a pair of fluffy purple wings. I smiled.
"Hello Lilla, my name is Dawn." I said. She smiled even brighter.
"That's a pretty name...Dawn. What is in your stomach?" She asked. I gave another small smile.
"A baby." I stated. She looked confused.
"What's a baby? Can i get it out?"
I sighed. This would take a while to explain.
