The internet has been going crazy ever since the announcement of a new Avenger. People have been posting theories about where you came from, how they found you, who you are, and a lot more. It's a bit overwhelming having thousands of people talking about you on the internet after being unknown for so long.
Thankfully, despite having been a few weeks, you haven't been forced to go on any missions that would further put you into the spotlight. You've mostly just been hiding away in your room, only leaving to grab food to smuggle back to your room where you can eat peacefully and privately.
The others also mostly left you alone, leaving you to do your own thing since they still didn't quite trust you. It didn't bother you much. You wouldn't really trust yourself either if you were in their shoes.
"Miss, you have a visitor in the main room." Alice informs you from the speakers in your room.
You huff out a sigh as you pull your helmet on, still not comfortable showing your face in front of the others. With very little enthusiasm, you make your way from your room to the main room where your supposed guest awaits. You're not very excited due to thinking it's simply Fury stopping by to check in on the new recruit but that quickly changes upon seeing who is actually there.
Not even noticing the others in the room, you run towards the visitor and throw yourself into their arms, being careful not to hit them with your helmet. The man chuckles, holding you in a tight hug while the others watch with shocked looks.
"What the hell are you doing here?" You question once you finally pull away from the hug.
"I had to come see the newest Avenger in person. I'm a bit surprised that you agreed to join the team." T'Challa smiles, happy to finally be reunited with you after all this time.
"Uh, anyone gonna fill us in on how you two know each other?" Tony interrupts as he points between the two of you, obviously surprised and confused.
Slightly embarrassed, you step a bit further away from T'Challa, putting on your uncaring facade once again. T'Challa, already used to how you act, simply shakes his head in amusement. Thankfully, the prince knows you well enough to know that if you're wearing your helmet then you still don't quite trust the team yet.
"Glitch here came to Wakanda once. She stayed with us for roughly a year before returning to America." He explains, leaving out many details and only giving the most basic information while also avoiding using your name. You don't give anyone a chance to ask more questions as you drag him off to your room where you can speak to him freely. Once in your room, he crosses his arms over his chest as he leans against your closed door. "You still don't trust them."
Removing your helmet, you roll your eyes at the obvious statement. "Do you blame me? I didn't exactly join their little team because I wanted to."
"They found you? How?" He questions in genuine curiosity. He knows that you're not an easy person to track down.
"They followed the patterns and then programmed Friday to alert whenever she sensed me or whatever." You shrug, not really caring about going into the details. "All I know is that it was either become an Avenger or have my ass sent to the raft."
"So you chose the option that gave you more freedom. I suppose I don't blame you, all things considered. You would not be treated kindly on the raft as an enhanced that also kills people." T'Challa moves away from the door to sit on the edge of your bed where you join him, tiredly leaning against his shoulder.
"I think I would've preferred the raft at this point." You scoff out a fake laugh.
"Not getting along with your new friends?" T'Challa chuckles, his shoulders shaking and making your head shift uncomfortably, forcing you to pull away from him with a scowl.
Laying across your bed, you motion towards yourself lazily. "Don't you know me? I'm just the definition of friendly and approachable."
"It took Shuri and I months to get you to open up to us, and even then it was only because you and my sister bonded over science." He points out. "Based off of that, the only three you would really get along with would be the spider, Tony and Bruce. However, based off of Tony's flirtatious and rather invasive personality I don't believe you'll like him any time soon."
"Bruce isn't too bad. He's just a bit shy and awkward but he doesn't really treat me any different because of my past. He is however very interested in my abilities."
"I think everyone is interested in your abilities. You told Shuri and I the bare minimum and I know that she is always dying to know more. The girl constantly watches videos of you using your powers to try and figure out everything that you can do."
You smirk, knowing that the young genius is rather persistent when she sets her mind to something, especially if it's something she has yet to fully understand. "Gotta give her props for still trying."
"I think you'll find the team to be likeable with time, much like you did with my sister and I." T'Challa suddenly changes the subject, becoming a bit more serious. "Don't shut them out just because they brought you onto the team against your will. I promise that they are good people."
Staring at him, you can't help but to feel a bit bad for shutting the team out. It took months for you to open up to the two royal siblings and it turned out to be one of the best choices you ever made. Perhaps the situation with the Avengers will turn out similar and you'll find yourself with a few more trustworthy friends.
