It's the day of the conference and to say you're not nervous would be a lie. For three years you've lived in the shadows, taking out corrupt rich people without anyone ever discovering who you are. Now, you're going to be on national television which will broadcast your existence to the world. It's a big step to go from a ghost to someone in the spotlight. At least your true identity will remain a secret though that thought does little to comfort you.
Giving yourself a mental pep talk, you step out of your room and head to the common room where Tony should be waiting for you. Unlike yourself who is dressed in your 'hero' costume, he's sporting a nice blazer and slacks, looking somewhat professional. Certainly not what you're used to seeing him in since he's usually sporting t-shirts and oil stained jeans.
"Do you even own any other clothes?" He questions you with a quirked brow as soon as he notices you. "I mean, I know you're supposed to wear that for the conference but I haven't seen you wear anything else the entire time you've been here. You at least wash it, right?"
Rolling your eyes, you scoff. "I change in the privacy of my room. And yes, I wash it every time I wear it, Stark. Can we leave now?"
"After you, princess." He smiles sarcastically as he motions towards the door. You roll your eyes beneath your helmet as you move past him, tempted to bump shoulders with him just to be petty but you refrain.
Surprisingly, despite having a chauffeur, Tony slides into the drivers seat of the vehicle while you sit in the passenger seat. Not so surprisingly, AC/DC blares through the speakers as he drives, showing that he's not interested in small talk which is perfectly fine with you. You're not one for idle chatter, either. At least not with people you don't care much for.
Instead the two of you sit in silence, listening to music as you make your way to wherever the conference is taking place. Since the compounds location is supposed to be a secret the conference couldn't be held there. It wouldn't exactly be very good to allow people with cameras into the hidden compound. That would pretty much ruin the whole point of it being a secret.
The conference is being held in some random government building, instead. There will be security to keep anyone unwanted out while you and Tony speak to the numerous different news stations. Just the thought of being broadcasted across so many different channels sends chills down your spine. Why couldn't you be the hidden Avenger that works from the shadows?
Finally arriving at the building, you follow Tony up the steps, thankful your helmet keeps the flashes from the paparazzi from blinding you. As you approach the doors, two security guards pull them open, allowing you and Tony to slip through before shutting them behind you to hide you away from the cameras.
Entering a random room, Tony moves to go in front of the reporters while you remain hidden from view. You can't help but to be a bit impressed as he easily lightens up the room, telling jokes to ease the tension in the room. He's a natural when it comes to being in the spotlight.
After chatting with the crowd for a few moments he straightens up, growing just a tad bit more serious. "Now, I'm sure you're all itching to get to the main event."
The reporters let out sounds of confirmation, unable to hide their excitement despite the professional setting. Tony smiles as he motions towards where you're hiding, not bothering to look over at you. "Then shall we welcome the newest Avenger?"
As soon as you step onto the small stage the reporters begin shouting questions, holding their microphones out in attempts to get answers. The second you're standing next to Tony his arm wraps around your shoulder, giving a friendly display despite your lack of liking towards each other.
"I'm very proud to announce that this mysterious woman is the Avengers newest member. Let's give a warm welcome to Glitch!"
"Mr. Stark! What are her abilities?"
"Is she a super human like the captain?"
"Where did you find her?"
"What's her real name?"
"Is her suit similar to yours?"
Countless questions flow from the mouths of the reporters, slightly overwhelming you. You were expecting this to be a bit more... calm. Instead they're yelling questions, trying to talk over one another in attempts to get their questions heard and answered.
Tony raises a single hand, effectively silencing the room. "Come on guys! One question at a time!" His eyes scan over the crowd before he points at a random person. "You!"
"Yes!" The person straightens up, excited to have been chosen. "What are her abilities?"
"They're a secret." Tony winks, though he gives them the hint of you having more than one. After that he points to someone else.
"How long did you know about her before recruiting her?"
"Not long." Tony shrugs nonchalantly. "It did take a while to track her down though. Next question?"
It continues like this for another twenty minutes. Tony is vague with many of his answers while others he redirects. You're thankful that he's at least respecting your privacy by not giving up what little information he has on you. You're also thankful he didn't reveal that you're actually the one behind the countless mysterious murders of random elite members of society. That wouldn't exactly make the world willing to accept you as the newest Avenger.
