~Lainey~

It's too early. It should be against the law to be out of bed before lunch on a Sunday morning. Illegal. Punishable by death to whoever the reason is. But, unfortunately for me, it isn't and Noah will be here imminently to complete his report, tell my dad his daughter is the perfect angel she's always been and then disappear into the nothingness until he's needed again.

It's weird to me to think about how close Noah and I used to be. Until he moved across the country for college, changed personalities and became an intolerable, stuck up douche bag. I'm just lucky he wanted his own place when he moved back to take over one of dad's departments last year. I don't know how I'd have managed everything if there was 2 of them to be looking out for. Keeping an eye out for dad is hard enough. Throw Noah into the mix and it's a guarantee for disaster.

"Your set last night was so fucking good." Chels squished into the far side of the sofa, tugging the blanket up over her as she chewed on her breakfast. Waffles today. Not a huge amount of difference from her usual high sugar, high fat foods and yet she never ever seemed to be concerned about it messing with her weight. Though, if I could eat like an elephant and have the calories float off into space, I too wouldn't give a shit. "Sara's mind was well and truly blown."

"Yeah I saw. It was weird looking over and her being there you know? I'm so used to it being just you and whoever the guys bring along."

"It was new stuff right?"

"Brand new. We finalised them on Thursday at practice. They're just a tonne of fun so we knew they were worth dumping out last night." I was still riding the everlasting high of being up on that stage. Every week it took a few days for my mind to settle down and get back into it's routine and focus and by Friday I would be desperate to do it all again. The adrenaline rush, the crowd's energy, the fact it's the one thing I love doing more than anything in the world. The whole thing makes Saturday's my favourite nights of the week. Secret or not. "Sara better keep her mouth shut about it all. If she tells Rory, Rory will tell her younger brother and Sebastian can not keep a secret if his life depended on it."

"She won't. Don't worry." She looked over my shoulder, the echo of the elevator pinging behind the closed door. "Show time."

Since moving out and moving to the other side of Almea, Noah's become exactly what he feared becoming. Career obsessed, expensive watch collecting, car hoarding businessman. He fits right in with the rest of dad's top level managers which I guess is good for him but it doesn't pose well for me. Come September I'll be right up beside him. Somehow shadowing some woman who's going to lose her job 2 years down the line when I'm deemed ready to take the position I've been training for my entire life. It's not like the jobs aren't things Noah and I love doing, we do. Architecture is his life. From the very second he started drawing until right now and I know for a fact he's beyond happy with his job, changed personality or not.

The keypad beeped as he shoved the code in, fucking it up once in a testament to how little he actually comes home.

"TRY AGAIN." I heard him grumble something before the 4 buttons clicked again, electricity buzzing as it allowed him access and I turned to see him, beaming smile.

"You could've just let me in."

"Yeah but where's the fun in that? Plus it would mean standing up and I literally just sat down with my breakfast." I held up my glass before turning so my back was against the back of the sofa, tugging on my jumper so the seams would sit right on my skin rather than pulling in all the wrong places. "Nice of you to visit." He rolled his eyes, leaning down to press a quick kiss on my temple before looking at me.
