" aph, come on. help close. " lewis' voice snapped me out of my daydream.

" oh, yeah. sorry, lew. " i said, picking up the cloth and wiping down the coffee machine. i could feel his eyes staring at the side of my face.

my emotions were all over the place. josh had left this morning and ever since he did, i felt cold. like he was my heater and without him the cold was attacking me.

i loved spending the night with josh. it bought so much comfort and peace. but at the same time, it shouldn't of happened. i was the person who said no spending the night with eachother, but i let my feelings get in the way and now i'm in the exact position i didn't want to get to.

" why so doom and gloom? " lewis asked, gently hitting my back with a cloth. usually i would of sprayed him with the cleaner, but i just didn't feel up to it today.

" how do you tell someone the reason you're sad is because you love them? " i didn't mean to say it, but i was past beyond the point of caring.

lewis stopped walking, turning around to look at me wide eyed. we had always kept our conversations surface level, never digging deep so his shock was valid.

" sorry, i didn't mean to say anything. " i said sighing after he didn't respond. i turned my attention back onto the coffee machine, spraying the cleaner and then wiping it.

" he's the guy that keeps coming in everyday? even when you're not here? " lewis asked, leaning against the side.

" yeah, he said this is his favourite coffee shop. "

" you and i both know he doesn't give a fuck about the coffee. " he said, crossing his arms across his chest.

i looked over to him and watched as he thought for a few seconds.

" i once new a girl, she was my best friends sister. " he started, a small smile on his face.

" i tried my hardest to push away any kind of feelings i had for her. to be honest, i was a dick to her. " lewis laughed, shaking his head.

" when i realised i was in love with her, it was too late. she was in a car accident and passed away before i ever got the chance to tell her. " his smile faded away at each word.

" lewis, i'm so sorry. that's awful. " i sad, a frown falling on my face. the thought of loosing joshua made my heart hurt, so i couldn't even imagine behind in lewis' position.

" my advice, " he took a deep breath.

" no matter how scared you may be, tell them you love them. say it while you can. "

a small smile on my face matched his as he looked at me.

" go. i'll finish up here. " he said, picking up the mop that was leaning against the wall.

" no, lewis. i cant do that. "

" aph, go. "

so i did. i text joshua to come to my place as soon as he could and the drive home i couldn't stop smiling. lewis' words gave me a new found hope. i was going to tell joshua how i felt and hopefully he would feel the same.

once i got home i got changed into something a little nicer, brushing my hair and making sure i looked okay.

" hey, immi. what's up? " i asked, answering the phone as i cleaned my apartment as best as i could.

" aph, where are you? " the sadness in imogen's voice made me pause, my heart rate quickening.

" i'm at home. why? "

" i'm about to send you something. " my phone dinged.

my heart sunk as i opened the message.

one new message!
