invisible string [ joshua bassett ]

the set was similar to the high school musical the series one. people running around, people getting into character, cameras getting into position. riley, lexi, imogen took in our surroundings, trying to not make it obvious we didn't have much experience being on a set like this.

" there's my favourite girls! " a voice said from behind us. we all turned around to see vince, a big smile on his face as he pulled us in for a hug.

" vince? i didn't know you were in the video. " i said, pulling away from his hug.

" well, isn't it your lucky day. " he said and winked. after getting to know vince more and more, you tend to just let anything that was slight flirting for over your head. this boy could flirt with a wall.

i felt two arms wrap around my waist from behind and pull me close. i didn't needed to turn around to know who it was.

" hey guys, thanks for coming. " joshua said, letting go of me and pulling the girls in for a hug.

" you are in big trouble. " he said, turning his attention back to me.

" my favourite words. " i smirked, batting joshua's hand away as he tried to mess up my hair.

" we are having a study day tomorrow. " i groaned at his words. i hate that word. study.

" let's focus on today. where do you want me? " joshua smirked at my question which made me roll my eyes. he lead us into a kitchen set, explaining the concept of the video and what we had to do.

" just pretend you're at a party. i'm sure you girls will have no problem with that. " vince added, making us all laugh.

the director shouted places and joshua and vince scurried off. the music began to play and soon enough the cameras were rolling. joshua came over, speaking to us before his attention turned to a girl that walked in with vince.

as the scene carried on, joshua and the girl said hello to eachother. the girl looked stiff. whenever joshua would touch her arm or pull her in for a hug, she froze.

" cut! take five everyone! " the director shouted, she motioned josh to go over to her. we were too far away to hear what they were saying, but the four of us froze as joshua and the director looked over at me.

" am i about to get cut? " i whispered to imogen.

" if you go, we all go. " she said back, intertwining her hand with mine. josh and the director made their way over to me. i tried to read joshs face but he was giving nothing away.

" we need you to step in as the main girl. you and joshua seem to have much more chemistry. will you be able to do that? " she asked me. i nodded my head quickly. that's all the director needed to hear before she clicked her fingers and i was getting touch ups on my makeup.

" you've got this, you just have to pretend it's me and you. " joshua reassured me, the girls and vince joining in. their voices all muffled as i tried to pull myself together, i didn't want to mess this up for joshua.

the director came back over, leading me to where i would walk in and telling me step by step what i needed to do. it was all happening so fast i barely registered when she shouted action.

vince grabbed my hand, giving me a reassuring squeeze before we walked in. it was like a real party, joshua's song was playing, people were talking, dancing. i looked around, my eyes landing on joshua. for a second i forgot about everyone else in the room. it was just the two of us, like he had said.

we finished filming all of the party scenes, including the one where vince was looking for me which was quite funny to watch considering he never has bad luck with girls. joshua and i had one final scene to do together before we wrapped but we wasn't too sure what we were doing in it yet.

everyone has gone home, leaving just the two of us in the kitchen with the cameras. his song was playing quietly in the background as we sat on the kitchen stools, waiting for directions of what to do in the scene.

" i'm sorry you got dragged into doing this. " joshua apologised, reaching over the counter and grabbing my hand.

" it's fine. i actually quite enjoyed it. " i admitted, giving him a small smile.

" i'm kind of glad i didn't have to dance, i'm terrible. " i laughed, shaking my head at the idea of embarrassing myself infront of an entire set of people.

" i'm sure that's not true. "

" no, it really is. i have two left feet. " both of us laughed, joshua shaking his head as if he didn't believe it.

he got up, making his way around to me and offering his hand out. i shook my head at him but josh only raised his eyebrows.

" come on, i'll teach you. " joshua said and i finally sighed in defeat. i placed my hand in his and got up. his hands found their way to my hips whilst mine rested on his shoulders.

" follow my lead. " he said and began to move us around the kitchen. i kept my eyes glued to our feet, making sure i didn't accidentally step on him.

" hey, look at me. " josh reached up, gently pushing my chin so i was back to looking at him. the way he was looking at me was sending me into a coma.

we danced around the kitchen, laughing whenever i would miss a step or nearly fall over, but josh was always there to catch me.

" see! you're getting it. " he laughed, spinning me around. the pair of us both wore big smiles on our face.

" and, cut! " the voice made us freeze and we turned to see the director checking the clips they had just filmed.

" perfect! that's a wrap. well done you two. " she said, giving us a thumbs up. joshua and i looked at eachother before we burst out laughing.

" i didn't even realise they started filming. " he admitted, moving his hands from my waist.

" neither did i. "
