Heavy footsteps echoed off the walls of the ship as you walked forward. You had no idea where you were going. Hell, this ship was a maze, and you had only just started exploring it. There was no knowing where your feet were taking you; you just needed to get away.
Out of all the aliens you have met in your lifetime, you had never known any to be so... so insensitive. You held no disrespect to Princess Allura at all. Of course you didn't. You had just met her, and while first impressions made you wary of her, there was no cause for distrust. Logically, you knew that. And yet you couldn't help but let your mind spiral because what the hell was she thinking? To think you would want to find some lion just because you shared some sort of DNA with someone she used to know... no matter the reasoning, the idea was absurd.
Of course, you didn't want to find the damn lion. If the fairy tales were to be trusted, then that hypothetical white lion would be a force that you would have to understand and control. No way were you doing that. It was out of the question. Hell, you just got out of the cryo pod a couple of hours ago. You wouldn't - couldn't - pilot such a thing.
Trembling hands travelled up until they were gripping your necklace tightly. There was a twisting feeling in your heart, mingling with the snake of dread that had started to coil its way around your stomach. You knew this feeling all too well; not knowing anything, trying to organize your thoughts when your body knew that something was wrong. The familiarity of this feeling didn't take away the hatred you held towards it.
There was so much to unpack from the past few minutes. Where were you supposed to start? At the knowledge that there was a sixth lion of Voltron? Or at the revelation that you weren't human?
A hysterical laugh escaped you as you brought a hand to your forehead. You weren't entirely human. You were some sort of half-alien hybrid, some freak of nature that shouldn't possibly exist. Your other parent was an alien. You had a parent from another fucking planet that you never knew existed. Why had your father never told you about your alien mother? Or, wait, your alien father. You had two fathers. Your human father had never told you about your alien father. How did he hide his existence? And why did he let you live your entire life thinking you had a mother who did not care for you? Fucking hell, there was already a headache starting to form.
If you had an alien father, how did that biologically work? How did your alien father manage to make some sort of hybrid? And if you were a hybrid, what did that mean for you? You never had any reason to think that you were different from other humans, and there had never been signs from other people that told you they thought you were strange. But who knew? Who knew anything anymore? Apparently, you were some miracle of biology that managed to live her whole life thinking she was normal.
At least, you thought with another laugh, you finally figured out why the Galra had kidnapped you. It was because you weren't natural, wasn't it? That must have been the reason. Then again, it was only speculation. They never told you why they had captured you. The experiments they did on you never shed any light on why they chose you out of any human on Earth. That was, from what you could remember. God, you still couldn't remember much from before Keith and the others had rescued you.
Oh shit, Keith. You had just left him in that room to process your thoughts. What about him? What did he think of you? Of this whole situation? You wouldn't blame him if he saw you in a whole different light now. You most certainly did.
Ugh. You scrubbed a hand over your face and sighed. This was a terrible time to have such daunting information revealed to you. Seriously, what were those Alteans thinking? You knew deep down that they only had your best intentions at heart. Did that make up for what they did? You weren't too sure.
