Leila's POV:
When I opened my eyes we were in an abandoned building. "What is this place?" I asked, walking around.

"It's an abandoned distillery" Mateo answered, "It's Derek and Paige liked to be alone."

"Why're we here?" I asked, before noticing cut ropes hanging from the ceiling.

"Because what happens next plays a part in what happened to Derek and Paige" Mateo explained as we watched Young Derek and Paige run out of the distillery as other people came.

"Is that..." I paused, looking at the three certain alphas with their packs.

Mateo nodded, "Ennis, Kali, and Deucalion."

I looked at all of the werewolves before noticing three people standing next to Deucalion. Mom, Dad, and a young Mateo. It's been a long time since I've seen my parents in-person. Well, in-person through a memory.

Ennis looked up at the ropes, "There. You see it?"

"They dragged him here, an arrow in his throat, and they hung him and cut him in half," he announced to the others as I noticed Mom and Dad share a worried look.

"They killed one of ours" Ennis exclaimed. Mateo looked at Dad in fear, but Dad put a hand on his shoulder to calm him down.

"One of yours" Kali told Ennis, "Why should I care about one of your pack?"

"'Cause the hunters don't discern packs, especially the Argents" another werewolf spoke up.

"But they do discern motive," Deucalion said, sharing a look with Dad, "Ennis, why did they kill him?"

Ennis remained quiet as one of Deucalion's betas walked up to Ennis, "Because your young, naive beta killed one of them."

"Marco" Deucalion warned, but was ignored. "He killed a hunter, didn't he?" Marco asked.

"Accidentally" Ennis answered angrily.

Suddenly, there was a howl in the distance. Just like everyone else, I turned towards the entrance and saw a black wolf with glowing red eyes walk towards the distillery.

The wolf turned into a woman with glowing red eyes. "Talia" I said softly, remembering the kind woman.

"Why're you guys here?" I asked Mateo.

"Because Talia asked Mom and Dad to be here to help mediate the situation. It's in our nature to try to solve things without violence or death" Mateo answered as we watched the adults talk.

"Useless debate" Ennis exclaimed going towards the building's wall, "I'm done with it."

He placed his hand on the wall as Deucalion called, "Ennis, don't. Don't make us part of a historical cliche. With two such powers, it never ends at an eye for an eye. A skirmish becomes a war. A murder becomes a massacre. And we end up no better than our enemies."

I looked towards Deucalion shocked at his words. Apparently, Derek wasn't the only one who changed.

"You probably don't remember Uncle Duke. After he became blind, he wasn't the same man. He was always angry, vengeful. Mom and Dad decided to keep us away from it" Mateo explained.

I remained quiet as we watched Ennis make the spiral on the wall with his claws. I closed my eyes as I felt myself being pulled from the memory.

"They wouldn't even let him see the body" Mateo told me when we were back in the attic.

I looked over at Mateo as he looked at the floor and let out an angry scoff, "Because of what happened with Ennis, it gave Peter the opportunity to manipulate Derek into thinking that Paige should receive the bite."
