Damon's eyes fluttered open but automatically clamped shut at the brightness of his surroundings. For a brief moment, he wondered what had happened and where he was before memories of what had occurred came swarming back, making him jolt up in a sitting position. It was then that he realised he no longer felt any pain physically but the anger in his veins most definitely remained due to Elena's betrayal.
As he finally managed to adjust to the brightness, he had half expected to appear at the boarding house in the afterlife, where his brother would have most likely decided to stay but instead, he found himself in a meadow filled with a wide range of different beautiful flowers. He looked around, feeling his anger diminish at the peaceful landscape surrounding him. It somewhat reminded him of the vision he created for Rose all those years ago when she had been bitten by Jules, the Werewolf.
"Hello, Mr Salvator" Damon spun around, his eyes widening at the sight of a stunning woman with waist-length blonde hair and large Doe-like blue eyes. She was in a white flowy ankle-length dress with a low-dipped neckline, revealing quite a bit of her cleavage.
"Hello? Who are you? Where am I?" He questioned rapidly, earning a soft laugh from the woman who began to approach in elegant strides.
"I go by many names, Mr Salvator but I'm commonly referred to as... Fate" His eyes widened briefly before a look of suspicion came across his face. He let out a scoff and shook his head, wondering whether he was being tricked by some dead witches.
"I can assure you, Mr Salvator, I am no witch. I must admit, however, that I'm extremely disappointed in how your life has turned out. You were never meant to go down the path you did, I had tried to push you onto the right one but you are rather stubborn when you come across something you want" Damon could hear the humour in her voice and despite his better judgement, he found himself chuckling.
"Tell me... fate? What was my life supposed to be like?" He questioned curiously with a hint of sarcasm, still not entirely sure the woman was legit.
With a soft smile, she held out her hand to him "Come along, I'll explain after you meet the others" He was hesitant but something told him to trust the supposed deity, so he slowly took her hand and the two walked silently through the meadow.
It wasn't long until they arrived at a single door, standing alone in the meadow. He reluctantly followed the blonde with his hand still firmly in hers as they approached the door, it swinging open the moment they got close to it. Damon's head tilted slightly in confusion, not seeing anything behind the door except pure darkness, giving him an eerie feeling.
"You'll be perfectly fine, Mr Salvator" Fate reassured, making the Raven-haired ex-vamp exhale the breath that had unknowingly caught in his chest. With a small squeeze of his hand and a soft smile, they both stepped through the doorway and disappeared into the darkness, the door slamming shut behind them automatically.
The first thing Damon noticed was the temperature difference between the two rooms, the meadow was warm and light whilst this room was a little chilly and extremely dim with only a few light bulbs illuminating their way.
"My siblings are eager to meet you, Mr Salvator but I must admit, my niece is the most excited. She has been watching your journey for a very long time, she understands your previous actions more than we ever could"
"I-I didn't know you had any siblings or that you could reproduce" He responded hesitantly, not wanting to insult a powerful being like herself. He may not fully believe she was 'fate' but he could feel the power radiating off her in waves and knew she was not one to be messed with, even if she had been extremely kind to him so far.
"Oh yes, they are the best siblings anyone could ever ask for, even though at times they could be a real pain. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about all too well-" She giggled as she looked at him with a bright smile, earning an agreeable nod and a chuckle from the man. "And we can't reproduce, but that's a story my brother can tell you. We have arrived"
