After Violet packed her bags and said her goodbyes to her family, she and Damon made their way out of the castle and into the beautiful gardens. It wasn't as vibrant as the meadow with its wide range of different colours and intoxicating smell but it was equally as peaceful, if not even more so for the ex-Vampire as he looked over the black and red roses. He never much liked things colourful since he found them a little too... happy but even he could admit that at times, it brought a well-wanted peace that no one or no place could provide.
"So, what's the difference between your magic and Bonnie's?" He questioned the witch, who turned her head slightly in his direction which indicated that she was listening.
"Bonnie's magic comes from nature and her ancestors but it could be taken away if she goes against what nature expects her to do. Me and my people have our magic within us, we call it our magical core. It cannot be taken unless we go against magical vows or agreements but it's extremely rare. We mostly use wands but those who are powerful can use what we call, wandless and non-verbal magic. Our spells aren't as complicated as those nature witches, they are usually one or two words and it works. However, my people are much more powerful than nature witches" Damon was listening to every word with utmost concentration and curiosity, he found it extremely fascinating and most definitely wanted to know more.
"And Hogwarts was real? That evil dude and everything?" Violet chuckled and nodded her head, surprised it took him that long to mention the 'Harry Potter' stories.
"It was all real but some were a little... Twisted. I had lived with those horrible Muggles but the abuse was a lot worse than they portrayed in the books and Dumbledore wasn't as innocent as one would think. He was extremely manipulative and secretive, and even though the books made it seem as though 'Harry' was the perfect follower, I most certainly was not. Voldemort was truly evil but some of his earlier plans weren't as horrific as people may think. He originally wanted all magical creatures to have rights, like vampires and werewolves which is something I made sure happened as soon as I had the power to do so. He also wanted Muggle-born children to enter our world earlier because it's extremely dangerous for us if the Muggles found out, it would be a repeat of the witch trials. Unfortunately, he partook in some extremely dark vile magic and it altered his mind and made him fucking crazy" Damon couldn't imagine having to go through all the things she had at such a young age. He enjoyed the 'Harry Potter books but to know that the abuse against the child was a lot worse was horrifying, especially when Damon knew exactly what it felt like to be harmed by someone who was supposed to protect you.
"There's something you should know about me, Damon-" He snapped out of his thoughts when he noticed she had stopped beside him, he turned towards her with a small frown. "I am an open book, I will not lie nor deceive you. I believe that everyone deserves to know the truth, even if it's harsh or if the person does not want to hear it and I hope you will be the same with me because I cannot tell you enough how much I hate liars"
"I-I promise, I won't lie to you," he said with the utmost sincerity, looking straight into her Emerald eyes. Suddenly, a purple glow began to twirl around them, and the air pricked with pure magic before it disappeared as quickly as it came.
"Ah, I see what happened" Violet mumbled but once she looked up at Damon's wide eyes and confusion, she let out a giggle and patted his shoulder. "You unknowingly swore a magical oath, at times it happens when the person is speaking genuinely from the heart and means every word"
"Uh, right. But what does that mean?"
"You'll be unable to lie to me, it won't cause you any severe harm and the most you'd get is a little stinging hex on a part of your body. Don't worry, it's not dangerous either. To be honest, children at Hogwarts used it often against one another" He felt slightly reassured but was most definitely not looking forward to whatever the 'stinging hex' is. He simply nodded his head with a nervous chuckle, making her sigh as she grabbed his hand and pulled him further into the path.
