Rowan Park has only ever felt truly wanted by one person, her mom. Her mom wanted her the second she was put up for adoption. That alone should be sufficient, but the overwhelming amount of people in her life that have caused her to feel unwanted has tarnished her perspective on that one single feeling.
Her birth mom never wanted her, resulting in her adoption.
Her adoptive dad never wanted her, resulting in his disappearance.
Past boyfriends and friends have also cycled through her life, leaving her to believe she is the issue.
The walls she has built are solely for her protection. To protect her from the pain she never wants to feel again. The pain that has crushed her, buried her, and torn her apart. She makes a promise to herself to never let anyone in again because she knows if she does, the same pattern will repeat itself. It will lead her to her breaking point if she allows one more person in who will inevitably leave her like the rest. After all, it is expected, so why not prevent it from happening?
That is until she meets Jeremiah Fisher.
