ROWAN

I was not in my bed when I woke up. Even before I opened my eyes I knew whose room I was in from the scent. Jeremiah's room, I fell asleep on his bed. When I did open my eyes, I noticed that there was a singular blanket wrapped around me and that I was on top of the duvet. The spot Jeremiah once laid last night was now empty, but the duvet had wrinkles in his spot.

Flashbacks of last night run through my mind. After our conversation, I didn't leave to go to my bedroom, instead, the two of us lay on his bed, a safe distance between us, and in silence, we watched his ceiling fan turn slowly. I must have fallen asleep out of exhaustion and I don't remember if he slept next to me or if he got up and slept somewhere else.

It really doesn't matter to me. Truly, I feel relieved after our conversation, knowing that the two of us are going to go back to the way things were before we kissed. I hope it's not awkward, and I have a good feeling it won't be knowing how Jeremiah is as a person. The only issue is me in this equation. I might need a little time to process these past two weeks and last night before I fully allow myself to jump back in.

As I was about to crawl out of his bed, I heard his door open, and behind it appeared a very cheerful, Jeremiah Fisher with an iced coffee, a muffin, and some fruit on a plate.

I can't help, but smile as my stomach churns.

"Good morning, Ms. Rowan Grace." His lips curl into a smile as he makes his way to my side of the bed. I don't remember ever telling him my middle name, but hearing him say my first and middle name makes my insides tingle. I sit up and look at the plate of fruit which has all my favorites on it.

"Good morning," I yawn and stretch my arms over my head. I study the plate of fruit Jeremiah hands me. Pineapple, strawberries, grapes, and watermelon.

My eyes gaze up and into his soft, ocean-blue eyes. A smile appears on my face because not only is this a really nice gesture, but these are all my favorite fruits.

"How did you know?" I asked, setting the plate down on my lap. Jeremiah then hands me the iced coffee which I happily take.

"A little birdy told me, but I did remember your coffee order."

My mom, it had to be my mom.

I take a sip of my coffee and once it hits my taste buds, I immediately nod my head in satisfaction.

"Thank you, Jere, I really appreciate it."

"You deserve it," He sits down at the end of his bed by my feet, watching me take a bite of my pineapple. I really missed his sweet gestures. "So what do you have planned for the day?"

I really didn't know what I had planned for the day. In all honesty, I'd love to do something with my mom since she will be leaving tomorrow. Mentally, and emotionally, I need time to reprocess everything that I have been through, especially after my debriefing last night. This is the first time in months that I have talked about Jace and I'm mentally exhausted. I know my mom will be able to help me with this.

"I'm thinking of spending time with my mom," I say then take a bite out of a strawberry. Tilting my head up so I can look into his eyes, I ask a question that I already know the answer to. "Do you work today?"

He nods and walks over to his closet and begins rummaging around. "You should definitely take your mom downtown and when I get back from work maybe we can show her your new skill?" He asks referring to swimming.

I smile back at him and nod. "Yeah, she'll love that."

Jeremiah sends me a smile back. "Great, I'll see you after work then." Jeremiah begins to walk out of his room, but before he fully closes the door, he peaks his head back in.
