On Saturday, Oscar met Nolan with Piper to skate. "You came and you brought Piper."
"I hope you don't mind. I tried to find a dog sitter, but Kevin and Tiffany have plans."
"I don't mind at all. They have a doggy daycare here anyway. Come on."
"I thought you didn't like dogs. How come you know about this place?"
"I had a border collie when I was a kid named Patches. Sadly, he passed away."
"Oh, I'm sorry."
"Thanks. Cocker spaniels are a lot of work, though, but you take good care of Piper."
Oscar grinned and blushed. They dropped Piper off and came back out to skate.
Oscar took Nolan's hand and they skated for a while. They picked up Piper and ordered a pizza. "I had a good day with you," Oscar told Nolan.
"I did too. I can't wait for Thanksgiving. Is any of your family coming?"
"Nah, I usually just celebrate with Trisha, but this is the year we're all celebrating together, right?"
Oscar nodded and told Nolan Kevin had a boyfriend and he was bringing him.
"Oh, I can't wait to meet him."
"Me, too. Kevin deserves some happiness. Kevin and Tiffany were the only friends I had in high school. My parents disowned me when I came out to them, so Kevin's and Tiffany's families took me in. "
"I'm sorry. That's pretty much how it was with me and Trisha. Her family took me in, too. "
"Would you like to watch a movie with me before going home, or you could stay the night?"
"I should get going. The offer is tempting, but I should leave. Nolan leaned in and smiled. "May I?" Oscar nodded and Nolan's lips came crashing down on his.
