Nolan's phone rang and was surprised when his call ID showed it was Oscar calling.

"Is everything okay?"

"Tiffany's coming home!" Oscar greeted Nolan happily and it hurt to see him so happy. It wasn't that he wasn't happy for Tiff. He was just, he remembered a time when he used to make Oscar that happy.

"I'm so happy to hear that. I've been worried about them ever since their last relapse.

"Same. I wanted to talk to you about something."

"You want Kevin and Tiffany to move in, don't you?"

"I don't want to hurt you."

"I'm not hurt, "Nolan lied.

"Listen, I don't want to get in the middle of you and Trish, but don't be mad at her. She was only trying to help us."

"I know. I know. I think maybe I overreacted. I'll call her tonight and apologize."

"I'd hate to see two best friends end a friendship over a breakup, and I'd feel responsible," Oscar said before hanging up.

Nolan sat down at his computer and looked through his emails. He had a couple of clients to get back to.

Being a victim's advocate was a stressful job, but he cared about the people he met and wanted to make a difference.

His phone rang again. "Selena? Do you want to meet at Friendly's? So we can talk."

Selena walked in wearing sunglasses. "What happened?"

"A door."

"Does that door have a name?"

"I'm okay."

"No offense, but you don't look okay to me."

"Maybe I should have tried to stay out of his way."

Nolan patted Selena's hand. "This is not your fault. I want to help you out of this situation. Have you given any more thought about going to the support group for battered men and women?"

"I thought about it and I'll do it," Selena replied.
