the truth

I sat in the attic and was rummaging through boxes. Liam was on the other end while Josh was in the middle. “what exactly are we looking for!” Liam shouted. “a journal by a guy named Jarlath!” I replied we’ve been looking for hours now. I opened another box and moved things around. As I searched I saw pictures and things but no ancient things. Then I heard “hey guys come check this out!” Liam shouted. We made our way over and he said “look familiar?” I saw it was me… with long hair. “woah when did that happen Jax?” Josh asked I shook my head and said “never.”

Then Liam stated “look on the back.” I turned it over reading out loud. “Jarlath Xaie age 21.” Josh was staring at it. “dude your reincarnated.” I hit him in the head. “Shut up.” We saw it was in what looked like an ancient trunk “sweet I feel like a treasure hunter.” I smacked Josh again. As we looked through the trunk I found a picture of Jarlath with a she wolf holding an infant. He did not look happy.

I sighed and kept going through until I saw an old book it was locked with sting. I pulled it out and opened it reading out loud. “this is my story my name is Jarlath and my pack does not understand my mate and I have to stop this. They will never know the truth so if this book is found please be the one to explain this. Before the next rainbow night.” Liam and Josh looked over my shoulder “what’s he talking about?”

I grabbed both of them by the collar of their shirts. “come on.” We walked back downstairs and to my room. As we sat around I told them what my dad told me. As I explained it all Josh asked “but he’s saying something different?” I shrugged and said “I think we got some reading to do.”

I sat by the river watching the fish jump. I didn’t want to be bothered right now. As I sat there I heard a faint humming. I looked up seeing a goddess she had long black hair reaching her thighs she turned looking right at me. “oh I’m sorry.” She stated and I got up saying “don’t be please.” S

he walked over and started to wash the basket of clothing. I just watched her. “what’s your name?” I asked “Vatalli.” I smiled at her and said “I’m Jarlath.” She smiled and held out her hand as I took it helping her up I felt the sparks she smiled at me and looked at our hands. I quickly pulled her against me and kissed her.

She was my mate.

I spent weeks with her but she asked me not to mark her not until her father approved. We spent every day together just enjoying each other’s company. As I fell more and more in love with my mate. I couldn’t help but be happy even if my father disagreed that a pyro was no mate to be had. I didn’t care. Her father was the same way not wanted a wolf like me to be her mate.

I sat with her under a tree one night just talking about what our future together would be like. I looked up at the night sky seeing the sky was a rainbow while the moon was full and shining brightly. I watched as she looked up with me then she took my hand in hers kissing me.

We had to return to our people. As I got up leaving my mate she kissed me saying “I will meet you in the meadow.” I nodded and walked to my pack. As I talked with my father that nothing bad would happen with the pack the ground shook. I fell to the earth and watched as a large black monster came out and roared. Suddenly half my pack was eaten by the thing. I heard a scream and saw Vatalli by the trees looking at the monster. What was she doing here!!

The creature turned and charged her. I felt arms grab me but I pushed them off racing after her. I saw it’s claws were almost around her so I jumped and grabbed her then jumped out of its reach. She blasted her fire at it and we landed in our meadow. “run.. go now.” She turned and ran to her people who were waiting for her. As I fought with this creature it kept roaring about the rainbow power… Vatalli. It wanted my mate.

I was angry and punched it back into the earth. As I defeated the creature I felt arms pulling me away from her. My vatalli was being pulled away by her people as mine were doing the same to me. I struggled against them. “VATALLII!!!” I shouted as she was no longer in my sight. “that is what happens when you mate with a pyro!” my father shouted. “I never marker her!!” I shouted but they wouldn’t hear of it.

They were convinced I marked and claimed my mate. that’s what brought the creature. They were wrong. That’s what keeps the creature at bay. What locks it away for a thousand years and more. I was forced into marking a she wolf that was now carrying my pup. Nanalli. She was a fine woman but her mate passed in a war long ago. She didn’t love me like a mate she was attracted to me but not love.

I sat on the ground watching the river once again. “Jarlath?” I looked up seeing my beautiful Vatalli her stomach was rounded. She was with child. “I was married…” she sobbed. I ran to her and hugged her tightly. “it’s alright they did the same to me.” She nodded and sobbed into my chest. “Jarlath what happens now?”

I sighed she was taken from me once married a pyro is bound to the other. “nothing we can no longer be together. But Vatalli that power you have can you pass it on?” she looked up at me and said “yes but when the person I pass it too dies that’s all. The power will go away.” I nodded I would do one more thing to protect my mate. my true mate. “teach me and pass it to me.” She nodded..

And that’s what I did I was now the rainbow the creature wanted. So I wrote this story it’s short but now you will understand. The rainbow fire is what the creatures wants. I will be glad to tell you this. IF YOU DO NOT MARK YOUR MATE THE CREATURE WILL KILL HER!! The rainbow fire must be marked to be absolutely strong enough to kill this creature. I know will be gone forever as I will go where that creature live to lock it away until the next rainbow fire is born and the age of an adult. You must hurry for the next time this creature comes that is the first person it will go after.

I finished reading the story and sighed. Liam and Josh looked at me. “GO MARK HER!!!” they screamed I fell off my chair. “fucking assholes!! You scared the shit out of me.” Josh started to push me to the door. “no talking go!” Liam was helping him. “she doesn’t even know I’m her mate!”

Liam sat down saying “oh god were dead. Were all dead the rainbow night is in a few weeks we have to get her to fall in love with you so you can mark her before the pack finds out about what she can do and stop us!” he stated which was all true. We had to move and fast. As we ran out Josh ran ahead saying “we have to hurry!!! She stubborn!!” I laughed of course now I find all of this out.
