More family bonding

The rest of the weekend went by, and now it was Monday. Mirabela's family got together for breakfast, and it felt good to have the whole family together.

"So, you have the day off, Pablo?" Sara asked.

"That's right, Sara," Pablo confirmed before putting his arm around Pedro. "I just have to give a checkup to a certain patient today." He gently poked Pedro's tummy, making him chortle.

"So, what are you thinking about doing today?" Sara chortled.

"Well, since Sofia is meeting some friends for lunch today, we'll be out for a nice boys' day," Jesus smiled. "We'll be having lunch at Jimmy John's, and then we'll hit the mall and walk all around."

"Sounds good," Sofia smiled.

After breakfast, Mirabela and the twins were ready to go to school, and they hugged and kissed their parents and grandfather.

"Okay, Mira, have a good day, okay?" Pedro gushed.

"I will, Papi," Mirabela smiled. She and the twins each got on a scooter and rode off to school.

Meanwhile, Lily and Miley met up at school, and soon enough, Mirabela and the twins came on their scooters. Lily was dismayed at Mirabela for not making time with her.

"Mirabela, what have you been doing?" Lily scolded. "I've been trying to hang with you all weekend, and when I finally get to you, you're already gone, doing something else."

"Well, you should've notified me ahead of time, Lily," Mirabela said.

"Told you," Miley told Lily.

Lily was ashamed, but she wasn't willing to let Mirabela win. "What have you been doing anyway?" she asked.

"Spending time with Papi," Mirabela said.

"Why?" Lily asked. "He's home forever, so you don't have to be sad anymore."

"That doesn't mean I can't spend time with him," Mirabela said. "I mean, I don't want him around all the time, but we've gotta enjoy each other's company for as long as it lasts. I at least want him to be active in my life."

"I'm glad you feel that way, Mira," Variel smiled.

"Me, too," Dulce chimed in.

Nancy was passing by, and she noticed the happy look on Mirabela's face. "Well, Mirabela, I haven't seen you this happy since...since ever," she remarked.

"Well, this is the happiest I've ever been," Mirabela smiled. "My life was good before, and now that Papi is home for good, my life is entirely perfect."

"Good to know, Mirabela," Miley said.

"Well, I'll see you guys around," Mirabela said, walking into the building.

"I can't remember the last time I've seen Mirabela this happy," Dulce smiled.

"Me neither," Variel smiled back. "Who knows how long it's going to last?"

"She might as well enjoy it until December because by then, everyone is going to talk about my Sweet 16 party," Nancy boasted.

"I doubt Mirabela will care if anyone talks about that," Variel said. "She's just plain happy that her father not only came to her Quinceañera but is home forever. What military kid wouldn't be happy about that?"

"Very true," Dulce agreed. She and Variel entered the building.

"I want to talk about your Sweet 16 party, Nancy," Lily said.
