I knew I had to get whatever sleep I could that night as it would probably be the last night that I will be able to sleep properly for a while....if again. Although I knew this, it was easier said than done. Whenever I closed my eyes I kept having horrific visions of the next day. Having said this, I managed to sleep for a few hours before the nightmares started, they were of the initial bloodbath that would inevitably open the games. Bodies everywhere, covered in blood, parts missing, unrecognisable.
I woke up from this after what seemed forever. I was shaking and a single tear drop was trickling down my face, I made no attempt to move until I tasted the salty tear on my lips, and instantly jerked my hand to wipe it away. Then I was up properly, I looked at my alarm clock and saw that it was 6 o'clock. I didnt need to be up for a little while yet so I tried to squeeze as much sleep in that time as possible. Unsuccessfully. Before I had slept a wink it was 7:15 and time to get out of bed.
I reluctantly put on my dressing robe and walked down to the dining room for breakfast. I was the first one there so I helped myself to as much food as is humanly possible to consume in one sitting. We arent aloud to smuggle any food into the arena so it was worthless trying, but trust me, if I could, I would. I sat down and started eating, when the door opened and Seamus walked in, carrying a crying Freddie. It broke my heart to see him like that. Seamus sat him down and told him to eat. Freddie's bloodshot eyes looked up, catching my eye for a split second, before looking away.
We ate in silence until a buzzer above our heads went off. Seamus told us to meet Kara and Jordan in our dressing rooms, so we got out of our seats and set off. Freddie was sobbing silently all the way, I tried to comfort him but nothing was helping. Eventually we made it and Freddie went in the opposite direction, and out of sight.
I opened the dressing room door and Kara was sitting at the end waiting for me. I walked slowly over to her and saw an outfit of camouflage colours laying on the desk next to her. "You alright?" she asked me. I just nodded but i think she could see that I wasnt. She handed me my clothes, and I put them on behind a curtain. I came out and Kara gave me a look of consent. She took me out of the room, where Seamus was standing with Freddie and Jordan. We walked slowly over to the lift, which took us down to the ground floor. Then we went outside where a helicopter was waiting for us. I turned around to face Kara, this would possibly be the last time I would see her.
"You can do it Doll " She said, pulling me into a hug. I didnt want to let go, but after a while Seamus eased me off of her.
He stood me next to Freddie, who took hold hold my hand in his, I held on back. Seamus sighed and said "I suppose theres nothing left to say now except best of luck. I will do everything in my power to help you two " I saw the sincerity in his eyes as he said this, so I knew he was telling the truth. We walked over to the helicopter, which would take us to the arena, Freddie and I hand in hand. When we reached it, the steps were already set up and as we stepped onto them Seamus pulled us back into his arms. The emotion in his eyes was clear, he was genuinely upset to see us go. Eventually more people were coming up behind us so we had to let go, and Freddie and I walked up the steps and were seated by the door.
Our trackers were injected into us during the 10 minute journey, after which we landed on a field, and were separated by guards, and taken to one of 24 different buildings on the site, where the launch would take place.
The building I was taken to was number 12, it was very plain inside with only two rooms, one of which contained nothing but a chair and a clear, glass tube. I was sat on the chair when a voice boomed out of the speaker on the ceiling, saying that the launch was about to begin.
I stepped into the tube and the door closed around me. I didnt feel uncomfortable in small spaces, but his really made me feel claustraphobic. The metal plate below me then started to rise, lifting me into the arena. The light momentarily blinded me, but then I saw it.

A/N I just want to say that im sorry for any mixed tenses in this chapter, if im honest it was quite hard to write so that would explain it.
