Despite how many Shiny updates I've made across both of my books, I've never made one about the best shinies across all the regions. So today, I'm going into every region, including Hisui, and picking out the best shiny from each region. I do try my best to not be biased and choose based on fan approval, so you'll definitely be seeing some fan favorites in here!
1. Kanto-Gyarados

Kanto had ALOT of really good and fan favorite shinies from the iconic black Charizard, widely loved blue Mew, the majestic blue flame Ponyta and another fan favorite blue Psyduck. However, I'm sticking with both a fanfavorite AND iconic shiny in the series that being Shiny Gyarados. Shiny Gyarados is undoubtedly the most iconic Shiny in the entire series for a large variety of reasons. The first reason being, Shiny Gyarados is such a great shiny on its own as Red looks better on it than it's original coloration. The second reason is that Red Gyarados was the first shiny introduced to the Pokemon series through a Lake of Rage quest in the Silver & Gold games. Lastly, Shiny Gyarados is canonically owned by a regional champion in the Pokemon Games & anime and that person is Lance. Heck, Shiny Gyarados is in my top 10. Therefore, hands down, I gotta hand Gyarados the trophy as best shiny in Kanto and quite possibly the entire series as a whole.
2. Johto-Umbreon

Johto Pokemon overal have bad or lackluster shinies in comparison to the rest of the Pokemon Regions. I had a surprisingly easy time picking out the best shiny as there were only two good shinies, the rest fade into the woodwork. Some great or rather 'better known' shinies from Johto include Azumarill who has a very nice yellow coloration. Espeon who turns green, in which the fanbase is split on whether this is a great shiny or not. I personally really like Shiny Espeon. Slugma has an underrated silver shiny while Ho-oh was my 2nd place pick for the best shiny in Johto as it turns Silver and Gold rather than red and green. I chose Umbreon as the best shiny in Johto as shiny Umbreon has a VERY devoted following and I can very well see why. Blue striped Umbreon is breathtaking and easily one of the best shinies in the entire series. Do I think it's good enough to have such a devoted following? No. I think it's a bit overrated in that account but I won't deny it's still a neat shiny regardless.
