"Busken!" Combusken said as it unleashed flamethrower.
"Kangaskhan power up punch!" Celeste said.
"Kangaaaa!" Kangaskhan's arm glowed with power as it punched into the flamethrower, creating an explosion.

"Land it Kangaskhan." Celeste said.
"Kanga! Kangaaa!" Kangaskhan ran forward, and connected its power up punch, forcing Combusken back.

"We can take a bunch of those!" I taunted Celeste.
"Combusk!" Combusken said.
"Tch." Celeste said, clearly irritated. "Not that I need it but..."
She then flashed her earrings... that's when I noticed the keystone she wore on them.
"N-No... it can't be...!" I said with shock.
She tapped her earring, and light began pouring out of it, and into her Kangaskhan.
"Kangaskhan... Mega Evolve!" She yelled.
"Kangaaaa!"
"Raaaaaa!" Kangaskhan's baby jumped out its pouch, and began rapidly aging. Both Pokémon stood side by side as a rainbow symbol shined in front of it, and it reached its mega form.

A drop of sweat rolled down the side of my face.
"Didn't think you'd use something like Mega Evolution against a Rook...!" I said.
"Like I told you." She spoke. "I don't need it, but I figured this would be the best way to show the power gap between us."
"Combusk!" Combusken said, clearly not ready to give up.
"We're all in Combusken!" I said.
"Use power up punch!" Celeste yelled.
"Kangaaaa!" Kangaskhan closed in, its arm glowing with power.
"Raaaa!" The baby then rushed in, and smashed its powered up fist into Combusken.

"What?!" I exclaimed.
"You can't dodge both Pokémon." Celeste said with a smirk. "Mega Kangaskhan's ability is called Parental Bond. You'll be hit twice from this point on."
"No way... what kind of ability is that...?!" I said.
"Use rock slide!" Celeste yelled.
"Kangaaaa!" Kangaskhan said, hurling a flurry of boulders at Combusken.
"Counter with flamethrower!" I commanded.
"Combuuuusk!" Combusken spewed a stream of flames at the boulders, creating an explosion as the attacks collided.
"Raaa! Raaa!" The baby then threw a flurry of boulders as well, launching Combusken into the battlefield.

Dammit! How are we supposed to win a 2 on 1 battle?!
"C-Combusk..." Combusken weakly said as it stood back up.
What can I do?! How do I win this?! I have to prove to Jailen that I still stronger than him...! But I can't do that if I lose here!
"My goal now, is to surpass you! You said you wouldn't hold back so get serious!"
Jailen's conviction rang through my head again. But... what about my conviction...? If I lose right here... I'll be stuck down in the Rooks! I'll never be able to surpass anyone!
"Finish this." Celeste spoke. "Power up punch!"
"Kangaaaaa!"
"Raaaaa!" Kangaskhan and its baby ran in, and punched Combusken into the ground.

"Combusken is unable to battle." Said Prof. Kaplan. "Therefore, the winner is Celeste. She remains in the Top 16!"
