I had just gotten back from the hospital. I didn't know why but I didn't feel right about the argument yesterday. People take years to adjust to change. I felt like I was too harsh with him so I decided to apologize to him. I came back home and went straight to his cabin without even changing out of my coat. I confirmed he was in his cabin after asking Athai where he was. I tried out the door and since it was open I pushed it walked in.
"Arjun I -", I stopped in my tracks when I saw that he wasn't alone. When the person turned, a smile formed on my face. It was Nirmal. Nirmal freaking Pandian. It's been a few good years since I saw him. Now he was standing right in front of me.
Nirmal was my favorite friend of Aarav. Nirmal was like another brother to me. He was the nicest of Aarav's friends. Whenever Arjun and Aarav were on side adventures Nirmal always stayed with me and played with me. I smiled at Nirmal and said, "Nirmal! Heyy epdi irukka? Nee epdi inga?". (Nirmal hey how are you? How come you are here? )
Nirmal smiled back and walked over to hug me. I wasn't a fan of hugs. In fact I hated hugging because I'm not comfortable with physical touch. There were only a few people who I allow to hug me and Nirmal was one of them. I hugged him back and he said, " Unna paathutenle ipo naa super. Naa un husbandah paaka vanthen". (Now that I've seen you I'm great! )
I narrowed my eyes in confusion and glanced at Arjun. Nirmal too looked at Arjun and asked, "She doesn't know?"
Arjun shook his head and I looked between them and asked, "Know what? "
Nirmal answered before Arjun could say anything, "Well you're looking at the COO of AV tech. How come you didn't know?"
I narrowed my eyes at Arjun and said, "No Arjun didn't fill me in, unfortunately", emphasizing on the last word.
Nirmal passed a look to Arjun and said, " uhh I guess he forget. It's ok you know now"
I nodded, "Ah yes of course CEO aache. Evolo mukkiyamana velailaam irukkum maranthuruka vaaipu neraiya irukku." (Ah yes of course after all he's the CEO. He must have so much to do. There's a high chance it slipped his mind.)
Nirmal chuckled at that and Arjun scoffed at him. Nirmal then asked me, "How was work? First day after the wedding I'm guessing".
I nodded and said, " Tiring but it was good being back. I missed the kids and it was nice seeing them again after weeks."
I couldn't help but feel disappointed that Nirmal was the one who asked me and not Arjun. Nonetheless, I talked to Nirmal happily because I really was happy to see him again. And I couldn't believe that Arjun didn't tell me Nirmal and him were working together.
