As we drove away from my parents' house, my mind was a whirlwind of conflicting emotions

As we drove away from my parents' house, my mind was a whirlwind of conflicting emotions. I couldn't shake the feeling of hurt and frustration that was brewing inside from the confrontation at dinner. How had things gone so wrong, so quickly?

The memory of my father's cutting words echoed in my mind, reopening wounds that I thought had long since healed. His dismissal of my career, it stung more deeply than I cared to admit. I had hoped that returning home would mend the rift between us, but instead, it seemed to have widened the divide.

Sitting beside Arjun, his presence a comforting anchor in the storm of my thoughts, I couldn't help but feel a sense of disappointment in myself. I had allowed my father's words to rattle me, to strip away the calm façade I had worked so hard to maintain. In that moment of anger and defiance, I had lost control.

But even in all the anger, I refused to be restricted by my father's expectations, to be confined to the narrow confines of his vision for my life. I was more than just a dutiful daughter, more than just a wife to a successful CEO, I was a woman with dreams and ambitions of my own, and I refused to let anyone diminish them.

Arjun glanced over at me, concern etched into the lines of his face. "Are you okay?" he asked softly, his hand reaching out to gently squeeze mine.

I sighed, feeling the weight of my emotions pressing down on me. "No, not really," I admitted, my voice barely above a whisper.

Without hesitation, Arjun lifted my hand to his lips, pressing a gentle kiss to the back of it. "Do you want to talk about it?" he asked, his gaze searching mine with unwavering warmth.

I shook my head, a heavy lump forming in my throat. "No," I murmured, unable to find the words to talk about the emotions swirling inside me.

Arjun nodded understandingly, his touch a reassuring in the midst of the situation. "Then don't overthink it either," he advised, his tone gentle yet firm.

I turned to look at him, surprised by his insight. "How do you know I'm overthinking it?" I asked, a hint of curiosity creeping into my voice.

He grinned, a mischievous glint dancing in his eyes as he reached over to poke the side of my head. "I can hear the gears rotating," he teased, his voice filled with affection.

Despite myself, a small smile tugged at the corners of my lips. In that moment, I couldn't help but feel grateful for his unwavering support and the lighthearted moments that he always seemed to bring into my life. With Arjun by my side, even the darkest of days seemed a little bit brighter.

I peered out the window, watching the familiar streets blur past as Arjun drove. But something didn't feel right. We were definitely not taking the usual route home.

"Arjun, where are we going?" I asked, my curiosity piqued.

He glanced at me briefly, a mischievous smile playing at the corners of his lips. "We're not going home," he replied cryptically.
