Arjun's POV
The morning unfolded with a relentless ache pounding through my temples, each pulsating throb a cruel reminder of the revelry from the previous night. As I groggily opened my eyes, the soft rays of morning light filtered through the curtains, casting a subdued glow on the room. The hazy recollections of the night began to resurface, like fragments of a puzzle slowly falling into place.
I found myself alone in the bed, the disorienting emptiness prompting me to sit up and survey the room. The details of the night, a blend of playful banter and unexpected intimacy, started to come back my memory. The shared warmth of the bed, the gentle embrace, and the laughter that echoed through the room painted a vivid picture of what happened last night.
Shruthi's absence sparked a momentary confusion in me. I couldn't recall how the night had concluded, and the silence of the room deepened the mystery. Rubbing my temples in an attempt to alleviate the throbbing headache, I retraced the steps of the evening, each memory unfolding with a peculiar mix of clarity and uncertainty.
As I gathered my thoughts, the realization dawned on me, what I had done yesterday in my state of intoxication. Thee night had unraveled layers of complexity, pushing the boundaries of our usual dynamics. I didn't remember exactly what I said but I remembered my actions and I knew that I needed to apologize to her.
I quickly went to the bathroom to refresh and brush my teeth and when I came back I smelled something from the mini kitchen. I cautiously stepped out of the bedroom, my footsteps echoing in the quiet hotel room. As I entered the living area, the aroma of breakfast cooking in the mini kitchen wafted stronger through the air. To my surprise, Shruthi was there, slowly moving around the small space, a casual grace to her movements.
I couldn't help but be taken aback by the sight of her, seemingly unfazed by the events of the previous night. As I observed her deft movements in the kitchen, a sense of disbelief crept in. She seemed entirely at ease, as if the shared moments from the previous night were nothing out of the ordinary.
The ease in her demeanor left me momentarily questioning the reality of our interactions. Was it possible that the night's events were nothing more than fragments of a dream blurred by the effects of alcohol?
Shruthi looked up from her cooking, a genuine smile on her face, "Good morning, Arjun. Didn't expect to see you up so soon."
My response was a half-smile, the uncertainty of the morning still clouding my thoughts, "Morning. What's cooking?"
"Just some breakfast. You seemed like you could use a good meal after last night."
As I continued to watch her, a doubt lingered. Was it all a figment of my imagination?
