When I came home, it was empty except for ma. I greeted her and went to my room to freshen up and I realized that Shruthi wasn't there. Instead all her stuff was. She had unpacked everything that she brought. I walked to the closet to see her clothes and accessories at the end of the closet hanging on the two shelfs that were empty before. I noticed that her clothes were also aligned by color.

I didn't know if was by intention or she dies it too. Either way I was glad she didn't disrupt my system. I had a big closet and not enough clothes to full them. Due to the empty space, my closet had always looked very spacious.

Now, will all her clothes my closet suddenly looked too small but somehow right. I went to the bathroom and saw the same thing. Her toiletries were nicely stacked to one side. I fresenend up and came back to see her still missing.

Where could she be?  Did you go out by any chance? She didn't know anywhere else here except this room.

Or that's what I thought.

When I went down to the hall and asked my mom she told me Shruthi and Lea were at the home theater. Day one and she's already found the home theater. I was pretty sure that Lea was the one who showed her. After having my evening coffee I made my way to the theatre to find them watching some Hindi movie.

I didn't recognize the movie because I'm not a cinema person. I want to watch but I just never get the time to do so in between all the work that I have. I didn't want to disturb them with my presence so I sat down in the last row diagonal to Shruthi with a clear view of her.  I watched her instead of the movie and I saw that she was crying.

Why was she crying? Did she miss her family? Did Lea say something that hurt her?

A million questions raced through my mind. Soon the movie ended and she was the first one to notice me. She quickly wiped her tears as if she didn't want me to know that she cried and called Lea. Lea greeted me and we talked for a while and she asked to go get ice cream. I agreed immediately because I felt bad for what happened today morning. I'm usually not like this.

Lea called Shruthi to join us to and she looked at me try to get a reaction but I kept my face expressionless. I had no opinion whatsoever on her coming but if she came I didn't mind. And I figured it would be good start to know each other since we were gonna be spending the rest of our life's together even though I wasn't exactly happy about that.

As she walked past me I felt an unexplainable sensation, a feeling that I've experienced before. It was like her proximity affected me more than I could accept. Her hands which were by her side almost touched mine and just that ghost of a touch did things to me. I let out a breath and flexed my hands.

The sun hung low on the horizon, casting a warm golden glow over the house. I waited outside beside my car. I'm usually in formals but now I was in a black sweater and beige pants. I waited impatiently for the two of them to come out. It's been more than 30 minutes since they went to get ready. How long do woman take to get ready for an ice cream date.
