"Christine, may I speak with you for a moment?"
The blonde quickly snapped her head around to look in her boss' direction. When she saw the serious look on his face, she nodded her head hesitantly. The man tilted his head to the side and back, gesturing for her to follow him, so she stood up and trailed behind him. When they reached his office, he sat down at his desk while she took a seat across from him.
"Is there something going on that I don't know about? Is there anything you're not telling me?" he asked with a hint of irritation in his voice, "Because I'm very confused as to why you're suddenly all buddy-buddy with Felicity after all the reservations you expressed to me about her."
Christine rolled her eyes, "Oh, so after you ignored all of my concerns and made it clear that she was here to stay, I can't be nice to her? I was just helping her out because with the amount of work you're assigning to her, she'll have a heart condition by the time it's legal for her to drink. Relax, Mateo. What's the big deal?"
Mateo leaned back in his chair and crossed his arms angrily, "Just tell me the truth, Christine."
"There's nothing to tell," she answered simply with a shrug.
Mateo glared at her before leaning forward in his seat and inching his face closer to hers. She looked him in the eyes and still didn't speak, so he stood up. Christine glanced up at him from her chair, and followed him with her eyes as he walked around his desk and stopped directly behind her.
He placed a hand on her shoulder, then slowly began to pull her hair away from her neck. He could hear her let out a faint gasp as he leaned down to brush his soft lips against her ear. His voice sent chills down her spine as he whispered, "Don't lie to me, mi amor. You know I always find out when you do bad things."
He knew she couldn't resist him. He knew too well what got her going and what drove her absolutely wild. He'd done it many times before. Whether it was with words or his own physical touch, he knew exactly what to do to make her come undone.
Christine gripped tightly onto the armrests of the chair. It took every ounce of self control that she had to not pounce on him right then and there. He could make anything sound sexy to her, and he always knew just how to turn her on.
"She saw us the other day," she finally confessed, "Felicity saw what we were doing in here."
Mateo froze and his jaw clenched instantly, "What do you mean she saw what we were doing, Christine?"
Mateo returned to his desk chair, and Christine looked at him with annoyance, "You know what I mean, Mateo. She saw us yesterday. In your office. Getting all close and personal. But it's fine, I talked to her about it. She's not going to say anything. I handled it."
"Well for both of our sakes, I sure hope she doesn't, Christine. How could you not tell me about this? Were you even going to? I do not want this type of information spreading around my company. Don't you understand that?"
Mateo's anger was rising very quickly, and he was livid to find out that Felicity saw him fooling around with Christine during work hours.
Christine scoffed in frustration, "Jesus, Mateo. I'm not stupid. I swear, sometimes you treat me like I'm the biggest idiot in the world."
Mateo rolled his eyes, "I don't think you're stupid, Christine. And I don't try to treat you in a way that makes you feel like I view you as one."
"So what then?" she snapped, "Are you just embarrassed to be seen in public with your pathetic little receptionist?"
Mateo sighed and rubbed his hands over his face, causing his voice to sound muffled as he spoke, "Christine, we've been over this. As long as you're working here, we need to at least try to keep things as professional as possible."
