twilight's last gleaming

[eiden]

We do find him. And it isn't pretty.

It's Clarke first. I have to come to terms with the fact that Clarke can take care of herself, so I stay back with Finn and Raven.

Plus, I think they trust each other after what happened with Charlotte. Turns out I'm not the only one interested in saving Clarke's life.

She tells him that it'll be workers dying, not council members if they can't find a way to warn the Ark.

Then Finn, shoving Bellamy. Everyone wants to know where the radio is.

He plays dumb... until Raven.

"Bellamy Blake? They're looking everywhere for you."

He tells her to shut up, but Clarke asks.

And Raven says it. "He shot Chancellor Jaha."

My head twists to the side. Is that why he protected Charlotte? Because he did, confronting Murphy that day while we were all safe and sound in the bunker.

Every ounce of respect I had gained for Bellamy has washed away. The only thing getting me through this is knowing that Wells and his father have met again.

Bellamy starts to walk away when Raven goes to him. "Hey Shooter! Where's my radio?"

"I should've killed you when I had the chance," he says.

"Really. Well, I'm right here," she edges.

He takes her shoulders, pins her to a tree. My eyes briefly make sure Clarke's okay before my legs run me over. I briefly catch sight of the knife in Raven's hand, but I've already pushed him away. I'm tall, but not his height, so I still have to look up. "That's not how we're doing this," I warn firmly.

He knows where I stand. We haven't talked much, but the recognition is there. Our gazes dance in each other's, and I can tell he's pissed about this radio thing, but he killed my friend's father, and I'm holding it together, so he can too.

"Okay, stop it," Clarke's voice comes in.

"Jaha deserved to die. We're all down here because of him. Everyone knows it," Bellamy says, voice raising gradually as he peels his eyes off of me.

The sting's there, and I want to hurt him, but I remember Clarke's words. I can't damage myself physically anymore. It's bad enough my mind's a mess: a zoo. I take a deep breath, remembering who I am and take a step back.

"Yeah, he's not my favorite person either, but he isn't dead." Raven. "You're a lousy shot," she spits out proudly.

Clarke goes between us, tells Bellamy something but I only watch for her safety. Finally she asks the question they've been avoiding this whole time.

But his answer proves it's futile; "It's too late."

[...]

I'm still avoiding Ali, so on our walk back to the lake from camp, she wasn't with us. It's Clarke who lead the scavage and now we're all searching.

Well except for me. I stand with my spear along with a few others from the trainings I lead. Well not exactly that either, we're all distanced to cover more ground. Of course, I chose the spot across the lake from Clarke.

Raven's looking into the water when I briefly take my eyes off of Clarke and Finn.

"Some welcome," I say, just offering to chat.
