"Tch. Those damn idiots just made a fool out of us for trying to tarnish Toman's good reputation with those underground fights... Oi, you listening, Mikey?"

I was snapped out of my thoughts and brought my attention back to my friend, Ken-chin. "Hm? Oh, you're right, Ken-chin."

Ken-chin frowned. "It's rare of you to space out. Have you even heard what I just said?"

"You're talking about what happened earlier, right? Yup, I'm listening," I answered nonchalantly.

His frown only deepened. "You're not taking this matter seriously, aren't you? This is Kiyomasa we're talking about. He's under Pah-chin's division."

Oh, he was? How come I don't recall his face at all during our Toman meetings? "I'm just not interested in guys like him. Have Pah-chin take care of his own subordinate," I said dismissively. I was rather more intrigued by the other guy he had fought with. His unwavering valor piqued my interest. He greatly reminded me of someone I knew. "What do you think of Takemitchy, Ken-chin?"

"You mean that guy Kiyomasa almost beat up to death?"

"Yeah, him! Doesn't he remind you of Shinichiro?"

"Now that I think about it, he does a little. Is that the reason why you wanted to be friends with him? Because he resembles your brother?"

I shrugged lazily. "Something like that, yeah." My gaze lingered on the convenience store up ahead. "Wait, Ken-chin. Let's stop by the convenience store over there. I want to buy dorayaki."

"What? Again? Haven't you eaten three of those already?"

"Not enough. I want to eat more."

Ken-chin exhaled a heavy sigh and scratched his tattooed head. "Fine. Just hurry up."

"I will."

I stepped inside the convenience store and instantly spotted the only remaining dorayaki displayed on the shelf near the cashier. I was about to grab it when a girl who seemed to be around my age suddenly appeared next to me and unexpectedly snatched the last dorayaki ahead of me, making me taken aback in disbelief. She hurriedly walked over to the cashier to pay for the bread and then just left without sparing a glance. Once she was gone, I went to the female cashier and asked if there was any dorayaki left, only to be utterly disappointed with her answer. I just marched out of the store empty-handed with a glum expression on my face.

"That was quick. What's with the long face?" Ken-chin asked me with a puzzling look. "Where's your dorayaki?"

I pouted my lips in dismay. "A mean girl took the last dorayaki away."
