       Adrien's  POV:

His fear grew stronger as he waited for the doctor to arrive.

He heard his daughter beg the servants to fetch the doctor.

He only hoped the man would not be too late.

He shook his head. He must not think that way.

"Marinette, please stay. Don't leave Kali. Don't leave me."

"I would give anything to have you back."

The doctor arrived as soon as could. His horse was not too happy about the journey though, but Kali soon calmed him with some fresh hay and a few carrots.

The doctor went up the stairs and entered the Queen's room.

He could see the pain in the eyes of the young man who sat on the bedside chair.

"I will need a moment to assess the situation, sir."

       "Yes, doctor."

He stayed silent as the doctor checked her pulse.

He saw the doctor frown a few minutes later after I checked all her vitals.

"This woman is in perfect health. However, she is in a coma. Now, the thing that puzzles me about all this is I see no reason for it."

"What do you mean? My daughter says Queen Marinette fainted."

"Hmm, that is rather strange as she has no signs of any trauma, heart problems, or anything else wrong with her. I can find no reason for the sudden loss of consciousness or the paleness in her face."

"I suggest you talk to her as much as you can. In due time, she will awaken and may not remember a thing that happened."

Adrien nodded his head. He had no intention to leave her side.

Kali entered the room with a tray. "Here father, have some tea."

Her father smiled at her. "Thanks, my child, now you go find a nice book to read while I keep guard over our dear queen."

          "Yes, father."

The doctor stood up.  "I will go. Let me know if she starts to have convulsions or any other signs of distress. Otherwise, she will be fine."

Prince Adrien was furious. Fine, how could Marinette be fine with a gray face such as hers?

Adrien stood over her. He had to find a way to help her even if the doctor thought it was nothing he was sure it was something serious. The question was, what? What?

He placed a hand on her shoulder and could hear her sigh.

"Marinette, I refuse to give up on you. I know you don't love me.  I promise I won't let it get in the way of anything. I need you to get better. If not for me for Kali, for yourself even."

He saw her lips turn dark.  To his horror, she looked the way his grandma did before she died.

Ugh, that doctor was a nut. There was something terribly wrong. He could see it.

He went to the water basin and dipped a fresh cloth into it.

He let the water drip over her lips. He watched in surprise as they turned a funny goldish color.

"Marinette, what is happening? Why are you turning gold?"

He removed the other cloth from her forehead and saw it too was gold.

It was something out of a nightmare. How could she turn gold?  Why was she?

He kissed her left cheek and it turned a rosy red.  "Huh, why did the kiss make it red?"

He blushed. He kissed her other cheek and it turned red too.

He kissed her forehead and the gold disappeared. It too turned red, then faded away to its normal color.

He kissed her lips next slowly. He felt bad that he kissed her without her permission, especially when he promised not to.  He pulled away and noticed the lips turned red.

What was happening?  He looked at his arm and screamed. His arm had turned gold.

What sort of crazy magic was this?

He went over to the window, opened it, and poured the rest of the water out. The water dripped onto the ground. Everywhere the water hit it turned gold.

He tossed the wet cloths out. Those turned gold too.

He felt himself wince in pain as his forehead turned gold, then his lips.

"Marinette, wake up. You have to s-save m-me. I am turning gold, and I do not know how to stop it."

He felt his wrist turn gold, then his ankles. Soon he would be a gold statue.

He locked the doors. He shut the window. He drew the curtains closed.

Whatever happened he must not let his daughter see him like this. He could not scare her.

Author's note: What is happening? Did Adrien imagine Marinette being gold, or did she?  Is he turning gold, or did he fall asleep in the chair?

Will Marinette ever wake up or will she die?
