Burning Rose

Hello Dr. Volmer

Rose couldn't speak. It has only been a few days, but for her it felt like so much more time passed since she last saw him. It was really strange to stand before him after what he has done and now that she knew something more. Something very complicated. 

˝I see you still look rather ravishing.˝ he said. His eyes traced her body down from the head to her toes and back up again. 

She felt every inch of her body heat up when she realized she was still wrapped in a bathrobe. Heat creeped up her face and Dr. Volmer seemed to notice, because he gave her a little teasing smile. 

˝Wh-what are you doing here?˝ she  managed to say back. She thought to herself how funny it must be to him, when he hurt her so much, but she still responded to his look that way.

˝I came to apologize.˝ he said and took a step forward. Surprisingly, Rose did not step back. ˝I know there are no words that could change the way I acted towards you and what you saw, but I still wanted to say how sorry I am to hurt you this much. It was not in my intentions.˝

Rose took a shaking breath, but did not know how to respond to his apology. She knew deep down in here, there was a voice who said to her to just run into his arms and let him take her back where life was so simple and carefree, but that would mean she would betray herself and every little thing she believed for herself she truly valued. Tears started filling her eyes and she thought to herself ˝Oh, not again˝

On the other hand there was the baby. She could keep it from him and go through an abortion, but is this what she really wanted? She could also just keep it and the baby would grow up without a father.

The thoughts of the baby totally captured her mind and when Dr. Volmer said ˝Rose, say something. Please˝

˝I'm pregnant-˝ the words just flew out of her mouth and when she realized what she did, that she actually said this out loud she gasped. 

They both stood still for a moment. Dr. Volmer went pale. 

˝I shouldn't have said that...˝ Rose started, but he cut her off.

˝No, no Rose. Look at me.˝ he then stood right in front of her and tried to reach for her hands, but in that moment Rose completely broke down.

Her legs gave out and she would hit the hard floor with her knees if it wasn't for Dr. Volmer who catch  her an a second and lifted her in his arms and took her to the couch. She was crying uncontrolably now and Dr. Volmer was trying his best to calm her down.

˝Shhhh, it's alright now. I got you.˝ he caressed her hair gently and rocked her for a while until she calmed down completely. 

Some time has passed and he didn't dare to speak of fearing he would trigger her again. That is when Rose spoke first. 

˝I'm cold.˝ she whispered. She was still half naked and so he took off his jacket and wrapped it around her shoulders. 

˝That better?˝ he said with a calm deep voice. She nod. 

None of them spoke for another few moments. 

˝I don't know what to do with it.˝ she said quietly. 

She was sitting on his lap with her face buried in his neck and she knew he hesitated with his answer. He couldn't demand from her what to do with the baby, but it was equally his fault for letting this to happen. 

˝We will find a way.˝ he finally said and kissed her on her forehead. ˝We are in this together.˝

He slowly rose from the couch and took her up the stairs. He didn't really know which one was her room, so he walked slowly and tried to find the right one.

˝The one on the left.˝ Rose said and he obeyed. He put her down on her bed and cover her with a blanket.

˝We will talk. Later. Rest now my Rose.˝ he said before he gave her another kiss on her temples and as he wanted to leave her room she caught his hand which made him to look back at her.

˝Don't leave. Not now.˝ she said all sleepy.

He nod and took a seat beside her. She looked at him and he looked at her and that is how they stayed until her eyes closed and wandered off to a deep sleep. 

˝Fuck˝ said Dr. Volmer under his breath. He was furious. But not mad at Rose. He thought to himself that it was HIS job to protect her and it was HIS job to prevent for this to happen. Instead because he wasn't careful enough he got a girl pregnant. And so young at that. 

He didn't really want to have a child, but if Rose decided to keep it, he would support her and the baby. That is why he needs a plan. What to do in ether way that this might go through. That is when he remembered ˝Did she already tell parents about this?˝ If so he really was fucked.

For now he remained seated beside his love, watching her sleeping so calmly and just being happy he was again reunited with her. To see she made it home safely and in one piece.
