Burning Rose

A Deal

While Rose was sleeping, Dr. Volmer was thinking about the possibilities how this could end. And if she haven't told her parents yet, he had a solution.

When Rose woke up, Dr. Volmer was still sitting beside her, like he did when she fell asleep.

˝My Rose. How are you feeling?˝ he whispered.

˝Better,˝ she answered. She sit up on the bed.

˝When you will feel like it, we can talk about it. You need to know that I am here for it.˝ he said to her.

Rose just stared in a point in front of her and nod. 

˝Hey,˝ he said and caressed her hair. ˝We have been through this. You need to talk to me.˝ 

˝I know. But I don't know what to even say if I don't even understand the situation completely.˝

˝You are right. That is why you need time.˝ 

˝Yeah, not much any longer. Not until my parents get home in few days.˝ 

˝So you told them yet?˝

Tears burned in Rose's eyes when she thought about telling her parents about the pregnancy. ˝No.˝

A pause followed. ˝I understand.˝

They didn't really know what to say in the following moments. Rose's throat closing up by the sadnes she felt, making her unable to speak and dr. Volmer rethinking every possible solution to save Rose from being destroyed by shame.

˝I have a possible solution if you are ready to hear it.˝ he said to her.

Rose was controling her breathing, trying to calm herself down, and the way he said the sentance made her feel, like he really has a solution that could make everything better.

She looked at him, waiting.

With a very strong, but yet so calm voice he said: ˝Keep the baby. Come to live with me.˝

Again, panick started to kick in Rose's chest when she thought of her family shaming her for doing that.

˝Ohhhh......I don't kno-˝

˝Just let me finish my dear.˝ he stopped her and took her hand into his. He took antoher breath befor starting again. ˝I will take you back with me. Take care of you.˝ He spoke with a very deep voice, giving every sentence a pause before continuing. ˝I will tell your parents you need a longer time to heal. You may have the baby if you would want to. But we need to remember what to do after the baby comes.˝

˝What do you mean after?˝ Rose said confused.

˝Rose you have to know that if you decide to stay with me for ever, I have resources to take care of you fully. Not just you, but your baby. But if you decide to leave after the baby comes.................we need another plan of how to tell your parents where the baby came from.˝

Rose got scared for a moment. She thought that if she would like to leave, he would force her to give the baby to him. But what he said made quite some sense for now. 

But telling her parents that she will have to stay there for another 9 months, give or take, made her question herself. Do they even have that much money to pay for her ˝healing˝ for more than a half year?

˝I - I think it would go...................but-˝ she fell silent.

˝What is it my dear. What troubles you?˝

˝Do you think they will believe me? I don't think they even have that much money to maintain my rehabilitation.˝

He took a deep breath and said ˝Leave those things to me my dear Rose.˝

And she did. She didn't want to argue or trouble her head with solving her own questions that she didn't even understand if it was possible to solve. She had other things on her mind now. She had to hink of the baby growing inside her.

She let herself go into Dr. Volmer's embrace, soaking in his scent. Oh, how she missed that. It gave her some kind of warm feeling of being safe. Of being in someone's embrace that knows how to care for her and protect her from all the harm in the world.

But in the back of her mind, Rose knew exactly that this was not 100% true. He was not able to protect her from harm, because he was the one who caused her pain. 

While being buried in his chest she said ˝I will go with you.˝ and he froze for a second.

He didn't really expect for her to make her mind up that quickly, but after all they didn't have that much time ether before her parents came back home. But the intonation of her tone was some kind of strange and he knew something was coming behind that.

˝Yes, but-˝ he said.

Rose moved away just a few inches so she could look him in the face.

˝But that means no more causing harm to people at your wellness center.˝ she took a pause ˝and this is out of the question. If I am comming back, I - nor my baby, will not be a part of that.˝

The way she made that statment surprised Dr. Volmer. Hell, Rose even surprised herself with that.

He was a bit quiet at first, but the ability of holding her again made him a bit weak in the hart. Rose was something special to him now. From the very beginning he saw her differentley than most people, and he had seen a lot of them. 

The way she was as a person was something so refreshing for him that he wanted to be in her presence all of the time. So he wasn't gonna just slip this one go.

˝I guess we could make an agreement.˝ he said with a stiff voice. There was a bit of playfullnes in his voice also which made Rose giggle. 

˝Then you got yourself a deal Dr. Volmer˝.
