Roxy: The couple darted into the elevator, escaping the sea of excited fans that had gathered outside Parts and Service. Feeling the tension radiating from Foxy, Roxy snuggled up to him, hugging his right arm and seeking comfort in his presence.
He was going to confess earlier... I felt it, Roxy thought, glancing at the pirate fox. Why didn't he say anything? She couldn't help but feel a twinge of disappointment, but she brushed it aside, convincing herself that perhaps the timing wasn't right.
"Phew, that was nuts," Roxy remarked, trying to break the awkward silence. "You weren't kidding about there being a ton of people.
Foxy nodded but didn't say a word. His gaze remained fixed on the elevator doors, seemingly lost in thought.
"You know, Foxy, those kids were all excited, saying we looked like a great couple." Roxy ignored the awkward silence. "Some even thought we were in love. It was kinda cute, don't you think?"
Foxy's ears twitched, and he shifted uncomfortably. "Yeah, well, kids have a wild imagination. Can't blame 'em for that."
Roxy grinned, her tail wagging. "They might be onto something, you know. We do make a great team, and I enjoy spending time with you."
Foxy glanced at her, a faint blush creeping across his metallic cheeks. "Well, um... I appreciate the company, Roxy."
He appreciates my company, she thought, her heart racing wildly. Does that mean anything? She leaned her head on his shoulder, a silent gesture of affection.
"Welcome to Monty's Gator Golf! Home of the Hurricane Hole-In-One!-" The speaker started.
"Gosh, that is loud!" Roxy hissed at the speaker. "Ugh, I hate this place. It is far too humid; it ruins my hair. Too many Monty banners and decorations. It's like he's trying too hard to be the star of everything. Which he obviously can't because I am the star!"
The fox smiled and nodded slowly. The elevator doors opened, and the couple stepped out into the massive, neon-lit room that was Monty's Gator Golf. The swamp-like golf course had recently gotten a vast extension, adding nine more holes or whatever Monty called them.
*CRASH* "Well, well, well, if it ain't Foxy and his favorite defective wolf. What brings you two lovebirds to my humble golf course?" Startled, Roxy jumped, and Foxy, clumsy and tense as ever, bolted away, tripping on his limp leg. Roxy growled, whipped around, and delivered a punch square in Monty's chest.
"Afraid of a little gator jump, Roxy? I thought you were tougher than that."
"Shut it, Monty." Roxy scowled. She rushed to Foxy's side and helped the fox up. "You should be more careful with heights. We both know what happened the last time you fell."
"Watch it, Roxy," Monty frowned, his tail flicking behind him. He shot a sly grin at Foxy. "So, Foxy. Why is she here? I only invited you, not her! Did you bring Roxy here to show her how it's done, or are you just trying to impress her with your golf skills?"
Roxy's ears drooped, and she quickly glanced at Foxy, who was notably tense. She couldn't help but feel a surge of frustration at Monty's comment.
"Well, I originally wanted to spend time with her at the Raceway, but she can't because of her recent malfunction." Foxy stepped forward, a protective glint in his eye. "We're just here to have some fun. No need to be so harsh."
Monty glanced at Foxy, lowering his shades. "Fun with Roxy, eh? Didn't realize I was interrupting a 'date.' Whatever, let's get this started." He put his shades back up and led the two to the first hole.
